Default Booking an Elk hunt

I was wondering if anyone might be able to steer me in the right direction for booking an archery Elk hunt for possibly '08 or '09. I have done a little research and I know there are a few different ways to take an Elk hunt from the all out luxury ranch to the do-it-yourself set up. IDEFINITELY need a guide. I'm from the SE and I wouldn't know where to begin with trying to do it myself. I also want it to be fair chase. I found one place online and it had good prices but then I saw the high fencing in some of the pictures. This is something that I really want to do and I figured you all would have the best recommendations. I would like a shot at a big bull and I know it's going to cost me, but it's something that I don't get to do everyday. Pleasehelp me out and let me know what yourexperiences have been. Thanks!

Start by calling and talking with several different outfitters. If you need help, one of my best friends is an outfitter in Wyoming. The only people he guides are bowhunters and he's extremely successful. I'd be more than happy to put you in touch with him.

Thanks dwd! That would be very cool. I am willing to travel to Canada, but if I could get a quality hunt here in the states, that would be ok with me.

I would also look into guided hunts in the Craig, Meeker, Rifle Colorado areas. From what I've heard this is some of the best Elk hunting in CO.
