This version is also something you could make yourselfusing afull body Deer Decoy for your measurements. You would have to make sure your bow was held steady and facing the decoy from the level off the ground you'd be hunting from...but it could work.

That is a wicked idea never thought of that, i know what i will be adding to my bow But only flaw is it would only work for deer, or elk ,or moose cant really use it on all animals

A friend of mine made one of these and says it's fairly close...but he just uses it to double check his own yardage estimations so he does not choose the wrong pin by mistake.

Here is what I’ve done and it seems to work for me (at least while on a stand). I mark the yardage at 10, 20, 30 and 40 yards with surveyors tape at about 36” off the ground (approximate height of a deer’s vitals). Got up in the stand and put my bow in my left hand as if I were going to shoot. Place the cam against your thigh and hold your left arm out fully extended. Hold the bow so that it is lined up with the taped markings on the ground and use a sharpie to draw lines on your bow to mark distances. Next time you’re in a stand at approximately the same height, assume the position andthe marks will work fine as a reference for distance. The stuff mentioned above looks pretty cool too. The above mentioned setup works, howeverit has been my experianceits accuracy is no better than if you are a fair judge of range just by visual estimation, so I gave it up. The main problem Iworred aboutis size of the deer. A mature buck may run in my region from 200 lbs all the way up to 300 lbs, and adult does are equally different. One can imagine the problems this provides with an average chest measurement (I used19 inches). So....rather than taking a WAG I stick to what I know works, knowing the distance to every significant feature within 40 yards of the stand...
