I'm from Hammonton
Alot of my friends wait until it gets cooler as well. The start of the season doesn't mean a thing to them. Most start around Halloween.

I just returned from our archery moose hunt in Nipigon last night ,the only reason we returned was that the weather was almost in the 80's ,nothing was moving and the bug's were horrid ,but I'm still pumped for the opener next wed here in Ontario.

Aint it funny how people wish for cold weather in the summer and warm weather in the winter, year round somebody hates the weather.lol Last weekend I could hunt and it's above 80 all weekend, I wished for cooler weather. Next weekend the wife has off, can't hunt, would like last weekends weather but no, it's going to be cool now. lmao I stayed an extra day hunting because the weather man said a cold front was coming through monday. I packed rain gear into a backpack and went hunting in shorts and light shirt thinking this 80 degrees is going to break early afternoon, a shower or two and deer should be moving. Of course the weatherman was wrong, I had 30-40 mph winds at 85 degrees all afternoon, no rain, no cold front, just sun and wind. The squirrels and blue jays weren't even moving much. I drove home after dark and the storm hits only 12 hours late, instead of 3 pm it arrived at 3 am Tuesday. Not much of a cold front though, it's 75 now instead of 85 so it doesn't hurt as bad not getting into the woods today. I can use a few more days to recover from all the insect bites. lol
