You need to be safe from the ground up. If you fall you will wish you had paid attention to that deatail.

You might just live up to your name one day if your not careful, but hopefully not. I always strap onto the tree at ground level. Sure it takes longer, but its much safer.

blah blah blah wear your safetyharnessand so on. if you fall climbing with your climbing treestand how are you going to shoot a deer out of it[8D]J/K. theother item you want to make sure you have, which really sucks to forget, is a utility rope because climbing with your bow REALLY SUCKS.[:'(]

forgetting the bow pull does suck!! I keep one of thoes retractable ones right on my climber.

I strap in when I get to the place I want to be. I just make sure I have a good hold on the upper part and dont make a huge climb with the upper, should the bottom not lock in I can pull myself up. I have never had a problem climbing yet.....

make sure you have the top and botom part of your stand tied together, ntohign worse than losing the bottom from 15 feet up. I also make sure that when i tie them off, I dont run the rope too long, makes climbing quieter becasuse of the shorter distance between the two parts and you dont have to reach too far shoudl the bottom let go from the tree.
