New Treestand!!!!!!
#1
Hey guys,
I am already preparing for next archery season. I just bought a new treestand off E-Bay minutes ago. I got a Rivers Edge Bigfoot XL hang on. I got it for a GREAT price. $59.99 + $6.00 shipping and handling. So, I paid $65.99 for a treestand that is listed in Cabelas for $79.99 WITHOUT SHIPPING INCLUDED!!! That thing has a HUGE platform (24"X30"
with a 2" thick padded folding seat. The stand only weighs 17 pounds, so, it wont be bad lugging it into the woods.
Now, all I have to do is get some steps, hang the thing, and I am ready for next year
Hmmmm, now, I need a new Summit Climber before season starts, I am thinking of replacing the Bushmaster XLS with a Cobra XLS!
I can't wait for next year.

Just hold on thar..... we have 21 days of this season left to get rid of. Incidently.... it's been a while since I saw you post. If you're going to drop in just once in a while we need you to show us a picture so we'll remember who you are. Who could forget these legs.

Funny you mention EBAY. I was at work on New Years eve and decided to bid on a tree stand. I work at a bank in NYC and my buddy must think I'm crazy as I win the auction with a $31.50 bid. The shipping cost $12 but it's a real nice hang on w/a huge platform. Any way, fun and games.

Hey David,
My legs aren't nearly as shocking as your arse while your "answering mother natures call". hehe
I haven't posted much lately, I have been really busy, plus I have had some computer problems. With tommorow being the last day of late season archery and Steelers game (GO STEELERS), I probablly wont be on. I am going to have more time without hunting and all, so I should be on more regularly.
I can't wait to get this stand. I wanted something big so I could have alot of area to stand. I love my LocOn Titan ladder stand, but, it is only 12 feet high and it has a TINY platform. I really love my Summit Bushmaster, but, you can't climb trees with limbs low to the ground.
I already have a tree picked out. Just think, January and I have my stand spot picked for October haha. There is a big white oak along a cut powerline that leads from a field with a pond (next to the woods that are REALLY thick bedding) to a huge corn/alfalfa field. I have watched SOOOOO many deer walk 15 yards past this tree in the past two archery season. Last year, when I saw the bucks breeding does, they were about 20 yards from this tree. The only thing is the tree is to big to get a climber in and it has low hanging branches. I figure with this stand I will be able to get up in the stand, be REALLY well concealed, have a good wind, and I think that I will get more shot opportunities. I am saying out of all the deer I saw from my "pond stand" (the stand I hunt hardest in archery season) 97% of the deer walked past this big oak, within 25 yards. Its just that if the deer weren't coming out on my side of the pond, they would walk out of my shooting zone.
The stand looks good, it is rated for 300 pounds, so it should be tough and strong. I like the brown powder coat, that should make it blend in well. The two inch thick padded seat will be nice for long days on the stand. The platform is what sold me. 30"X24" is HUGE. Not only that, but being able to fold the seat up for even more leg room will be nice.

Do you have a Meijrs Store near you?? If you do check out the hunting section. Every year hear they clearance their stuff at 50% off to givet hem shelf space. Every year its different on what they have left.
I picked up one of these stands from there for 36 bucks. Also picked up 2 boxes of THunderheads for 12 dollars a box. I have 3 Meijrs stores within driving distance and all had different stock. The one had a pile of stands and im going to see if they have any left.
I hunted out of one of these last year that was a friends. Very comfortable and tons of room to stand.

Don K,
No, I don't have any of those stores around here. I have been waiting for Wal-Mart to lower the prices on their hang-on stands, but, they didn't do that, they just took all of them off the sales floor. The other stores around here that sell the Big Foot XL still have them at around 84.99.

Buck Magnet - Those are the second most comfortable hang-on's, the first place winner in my book is the Deluxe Bigfoot w/ sling seat. I've got one of each - love 'em.
As another posted, I picked-up two Rivers Edge Deluxe Ladder stands on clearance at a local Meijer store for less than a C note each. Gotta be fast during closeout time!

jAround here, the walmarts really start dropping the price on stuff about 2 weeks after season ends. Next thursday I'll be able to get steps at $.50 apiece and chain ons at $20. They had 15' ladder stands that were going to be $20 but somebody got them at $31. There is one wally world that nobody buys their outdoors stuff and the lady who runs it drops the price and will even hide a couple of things for my bro-in-law if he asks really nicely.
