As it gets colder those walnuts up higher should fall due to temp. and higher winds. The chance of a walnut hitting you on the cranium when your right next to the trunk should be pretty low. Shake the sand out and hang the stand!:D

I've already decided that I'm hanging in that tree. No doubt. Stand is going up tomorrow morning.
I just know I'm setting myself up for some kind of walnut-related catastrophe. My luck, one will smash right into my bow sight and bust all my fiber optics off. Or K.O. me without warning... LOL |

Who said it earlier, mobow I believe, " Put on your big boy pants" and hunt. Worst case, like Jeff mentioned, throw up a tree umberella rather than look like Special Ed however if you wear the helmet in the tree by all means, bring us a picture and we expect you to be wearing it in the picture with the animal you happen to take from that walnut tree.

I would be more worried about one bouncing off the stand and ringing like a bell telling all the deer within a mile radius "THERE'S A HUNTER OVER HERE!" other than that don't worry about it.

I shot my first deer with a bowout of a walnut tree. I ain't gonna lie they hurt when they hit you but they won't kill you. I was hit in the arm and leg that year espicailly when the wind was blowing. but its well worth it if that is the tree that will get you a shot.
