What Was Your First Bow?...
My first was an old Bear White-tail Hunter yep yall all know this one.
How bout some of you all? |
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Bear Whitetail II. Used it for ten years. Just bought a new bow this year.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Bear Black Bear II. I should take a picture, it's so simplictic. I believe it's an 83...
Adjustments for 50, 55, 60, round wheels, killed and recovered one deer with it in 8 years, age 15-23...shot fingers, full length 2117 Game Getters and 160 gr Thunderheads, talk about a bad setup... Hey, I didn't have the learning curve then. ;) |
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Ben Pearson #40 recurve
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Darton somethin or another, dont remember the name of it.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Browning Timberwolf and shot what I believe to be the same totem polls that Rob spoke of.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
I believe it was a browing coyote and steped up to the timberwolf. Man back in the days where you actual had to have a 10 yard pin, cause if you used your 20 you would shoot over them.:D
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Bear whitetail bought used in 1978, killed a button buck my first year. Then i bought adarton in 1979 which I used until 1990. owned 2 darton bows (Trailmaster? and a Mustang) t/o 90's. stopped bow hunting for several years, got back into it last year with my 1993 darton mustang. I just purchased a ross 337 for this upcomingseason.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Bear Black Bear. 40lb max wheel bow. Gamegetter arrows. HUGE broadheads (Anderson?). Shot fingers with it. Still remember those brightly painted brass pins:D. I could hit a paper plate a whoppin 15 yds and I thought I was the "chit". I think I was 10yrs old. Killed a snake with it.

My first compound was a Jennings Black Lightning... I believe. |
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Golden Eagle Predator. I bought a Matthews Switch back about 2 years ago...man you wanna talk about a difference!!
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Bear Whitetail II with aluminum Easton arrows and some very crappy broadheads. Never did shoot a deer with that thing probably a good thing cause it would've bounced off more than likely.LOL Still have it somewhere around the farm. Use a Merlin Storm now and love it.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Alpine Sierra Magnum #70, bought it used with my own money at about 15. Didn't know anything
about archery, just did stupid kid stuff with it and shot squirrels and a pile of nutria. When young, I used it bare finger with a prong rest and some of the fat shaft aluminum arrows. Last year I dusted it off, upgraded the accessories, and tried to use it for my first year of bowhunting, but it was hard to draw, slow, and very loud. It is accurate though. I had to hold draw for a long time on a wary doe and I missed. |
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
A PSE Spirit when I was about 11. Not sure about anything else exept that I was showing it to a friend one time while I was in the house and was pulling it back with an arrow nocked and hit the trigger of my release and shot a lamp. I also shot a cat that was sitting on top of my target one day. While the preacher was watching from out the front door of the church across the street. He still gives me crap about that.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
I had a Jennings Lightning.

American Black Panther. Got it for my 12th birthday (30yrs old now). Still have that bow....use it to shoot carp. Killed a lot of deer with it when I was younger.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
I started with a no name recurve but my first compound was a Bear Blacktail Hunter. Teardrop steel cables and plastic wheels.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
High Country Safari 70#. Think I was shooting arrows slightly lighter than steel fence posts with this thing.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Bear Whitetail Hunter followed by the Bear Kodiak Magnum. The first is long gone but the Kodiak is what my son LOVES for bowfishing.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
High Country, Brute Force, This was a fine bow until one limb cracked, but high country replaced it.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
The first bow I learned to shoot on was an old recurve. It was my grandfathers so I guess technically I don't consider it MY first bow. The first bow that I ever owned was a Fred Bear Black Bear. 29" draw and could be set between 30-50lbs I believe. It is still in good shape and shoots well. I just had it out last week and put about 50 shots on it. Someday I hope my son will use it when he's old enough.
|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...

|
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Browning Nomad recurve was my first bow.
Then I got one of those old Bear compounds. Boy did I hate that thing. Pretty much killed my interest in archery/bowhunting until I went to college. Then I got a JVA Astro bow. (and JVA went out of business) Then several years later I got a XI Demon. (then XI went out of business) Last Spring I got a Bowtech Equalizer. (so far Bowtech seems okay.) ;) |
RE: What Was Your First Bow?...
Mine was a 30" longbow with no shelf.
