Unlike alot of things that go on in the world today of INSTANT GRATIFICATION, Archery, bowhunting isn't one of them!!! It takes time patience , dedication, and trial and error to figure things out. That is one of the reasons it is so much fun. RELAX, Enjoy the ride!!!

I used to be known around here as Txrookie. I've come a long way since then by spending time on here and asking TONS of questions. I still do!

Why would you want to seek advice from newbies when you have experience of hundreds of years and thousands of hours annually at your finger tips. If he says he's more confused...it's probably because he heard things he's never heard or thought of. Osmosis is a great teacher in a place like this. IF someone comes in here when the season is going on or about to begin, he'll see all the highs, lows and will soon learn there is value in experience that can't be found in a newbie forum. And when would a newbie graduate to "The Big Boys Forums"? Really, you can ask away, question, criticize... and ask again here. Unless you're a complete idiot(which no bowhunter is) you'll learn more here just reading in a month than you'll learn in a newbie forum in a year. GMMAT is right about a shortening of the learning curve. I started bowhunting before it was popular. People today can't imagine that when I began I hunted public and semi private land for whole years without ever encountering another bowhunter. There was no internet(Al Gore hadn't invented it yet[8D]), no websites and really very few places to buy a simple broadhead..... and very few deer. It was alll OJT and only yourself to question when it went amuck. There are dozens of people with the same story here. You will never find a better place to learn and ask your questions than right here where the hunters dwell. Oh you'll maybe have some uncertainty when you ask which broadhead or bow and get 12 answers, but if you look... you'll find the answers among the favoritism or the best 3 oe 4 choices(none of which will be wrong)

I am suprised to see some of the "regulars" or those in the "in crowd" or mod's not supporting this idea......
starting from scratch myself and doing more listening then asking i see WAY too often a new person or someone with only "one star" (which in my opinion is a terrible way to classify persons) ask a question and get no responses or the famous "best post ever" from Mr. Wash himself....

I am your poster child.
I've discussed with Justin the possibility of documenting things from "our" perspective. My plight, this year, is doe management. "I" think there's a "forum" for what I'm trying to do. We'll see how things transpire.
Either way......you feel free to come right here and discuss your season and concerns with these guys. They are the BEST......and they proved that to me last night and this morning. The members of this forum have took a few bends out of the learning curve, for ME. Still, though.....there's no way to straighten those. I am humbled at every turn.
Good luck to you in your season.

I wish I had this forum when I started at age 15. What I learned, I learned through trial and error and a few shops and can cringe at those times. If I had a do over, I'd have twice the animals on my wall.

that is great tohear our education system still teaches what CA stands for back east Mr. Dave!!!
maybe i read his post a little different then all of you others.....but, i think he is looking for a forum section for newbies....so they can go onto there and post their questions....all of you "experts" in the field of archery could answer there questions...that way they are not posting questions on the "bowhunters" forum where they will get ignored......
i am not speaking for everyone who does this, just stating a fact that it happends and i am sure we are all guilty of it (myself included)in one way or another......i think this new forum would be good and possible help keep some of these "newbies" that come on to hear looking for advice from fellow hunters

If tou need answers to quetions don't be afraid to ask. Advice will be generously offered, sometimes argued, but with sincere intentions. Remember there are no stupid questions, (except Boxers,Briefs or Commando
)
