Versus Whitetail Challenge
Did anyone watch this show tonight on Versus. It reminded me of last years controversial World Hunting Association (tranquiling deer in a contest).
The show consisted of 4 well known TV hunterswho competed against each other on a ranch in Texas (Tecomate, i think). The show was even commentated by Jeff Foxworthy and some other guy. It was just like watching golf on TV.
The hunters goal was to harvest a 5.5 year old buck or better. The bucks were scored using the B&C gross system. If the buck was under the target age 5 pts were deducted, if it was older 5 pts were added. Rifles were used and all hunting had to be from the ground. Top score won bragging rights and a trophy.
The comment thatreally made the hunt into something else was by jeff Foxworthy on one of the hunters last day out. All the other hunters had harvested a buck. Jeff said "He has no choice he has to shoot one, otherwise he has no chance of winning." Doesnt sound much like hunting to me..

I had seen that one before, to be honest that seems like hunting on a fenced in farm, alot of the tv hunting on VS has been a real turnoff, especially when they hunt in Texas and talk about how they grow the deer, my love of hunting is for the natural aspects.

You're right. Seeing something like that just makes me sad. I don't thinkany show like that helps a hunter in any way. Certainly doesn't givea huntermuch of value to take from it.Someone watching it who may be "on the fence" as far as what they think about hunting may have their mind made up now that it's just killing for fun.

Didn't see it and actually, don't want to see it. Doesn't sound good nor good for hunting in the non hunters perspective but then again, didn't see it, don't want to see it.

I saw it. Very unimpressed. But then, I've grown to really dislike David Morris. The dude is raising animals for slaughter and calls it hunting and QDM. Then in the next show he sees a big deer and states that's a deer that needs to be taken from the herd, "A mature 6.5 year old buck. Duh, sure he knows it's 6.5. Then he notices one main beam is broken. OPS, "darn him for breaking it off". It's all about horn, not hunting or deer. He says he has 800 deer on that 3000 acre ranch. Then he shows his food plots and supplemental feed stations. He said we couldn't raise this many without the supplemental feed and food plots. No kidding dirt bag. They're just like pets.
