Speaking of things you find in the woods....

My pops and I went out to hang some stands and check our trail cameras and happened upon this.

People get killed over less money than that, Justin.

I'm glad no one was home. Be safe!

RE: Speaking of things you find in the woods....

You're right Jeff, it is. A LOT of marijuana. The local sheriff's department was glad to see that when we showed them, and so was the landowner.

And you're also right, people get killed over a lot less than that. From the looks of the place when we found it nobody had been there in a few weeks, but there were indications at some point they were sleeping in the woods while this was going on. We found sleeping bags, cans of food, clothing, etc.

They found the rest of the plants today on the other part of the property where my other stands are at (go figure) and from what I'm hearing it was a lot. Should be in the local paper here as soon as they figure out how much was there.

Maybe that's what happened to that deer Jimmy Houston was hunting in that fenced in pen. Maybe it went to that "special" food plot????

Glad you got that cleared up.....and there was no one home.

They had some pretty elaborate tents set up with kerosene and propane heaters inside (you can see one in the photo). There were empty kerosene containers and propane tanks all over the place.

I thought when you made a homemade blind you put the "natural stuff" on the outside, you know,to break-up the outline. What was I thinking?

This could be an elaborate setup I wouldn't want my name mentioned in the paper. The last thing you need is to tick off some drug dealers!!

Yeah man, You don't want the dealers or farmers I guess, since they didn't get a chance to deal any dry pot... to find out that they were busted by a guy that will be in those woods in a few weeks armed with a bow...
Or you may just be in there with a 30-06 aimed at you...

Be careful! Which translates to shut-up!

WakeCow 09-12-2007 02:51 PM

All of you sound amazed about the amount that's there. I laugh because I've walked through wild patches of it the size of the gym where I went to highschool. It grows wild all over Columbia, Sauk, and Marquette Counties in Wisconsin.

That wild wacky weed is junk, and is nothing like "real" weed. I'd be careful even being in that area from now on. Those are going to be some VERY unhappy weed growers!

My feelings exactly! Need to find a new spot. Those guys will be pissed their stuff is gone. They may come back armed with more than arrows!

It will be interesting to hear what the estimated street value of that was. I'd be scared every time I hunted that spot this fall. Hopefully, they'll find the guys and you'll have nothing to worry about.

Stay safe.

While I'm not one to condone exaggerating a story........

I don't know if I wouldn't ask the paper to list it as ------

"Ex-Green Beret / Special Forces Operative stumbles onto Drug Cache"

I don't understand why they didn't leave it and stake it out. Then they could get the drugs and the *******s off the streets.

This is a prime example of why it shouldn't EVER be against the law to carry when bowhunting. This was mild, what if they would have been cooking crank. And God forbid, using.

This kind of thing really isn't that uncommon.

Holy (smokes)[8D]thats alot of weed Justin. glad they were not home, it would be sweet if you had them on game cam.

RE: Speaking of things you find in the woods....

Your lucky you didn't stumble into a trap, I have been in law enforcemect for over twenty years. A lot of times when a hunter is out looking for a good spot he comes across a booby trap that has been setto keep them out. There isa lot of money sitting there, not all of them drug dealers are stupid and they don't care who gets hurt. I would think twice before going back to that area.

RE: Speaking of things you find in the woods....

Well that's something!

2things come to mind..what ever the value of the crop is, the Paper and local and State law enforcement will exaggerate it 20X for effect.

and number 2 no wonder Justin gets a buck every year..he probably baits with doritos those deer are so stoned they're just looking for some munchies!
