Here in Central Illinois, the chase should begin around the 3rd-6th of Nov.

Then the main rut will last right up to Turkey day or a few days past.

Second rut somewhere around the first week in Dec

I've read thats the rut is supposed to come a little early this year because of the moon phase and what not...not sure how much of that i believe, but i know i will be hittin it hard here in MO from Oct. 25-November 21st.

Durring these dates i can harvest two "bonus" bucks. I got drawn for a managed hunt from Oct. 25 - November 6 so i will be hunting my tail off those days trying to get my freebe buck. Then November 11-21 is rifle season here in MO. Another 10 days for me to scorea "bonus" buck with my bow. This could be a very exciting season for me in MO this year with an opportunity to kill 4 bucks!

I saw bookoos of deer last year the first week in November. They were definately chasing hot does...as I can attest to two bucks I saw trailing a doe on Nov. 2nd. It seems like last year it was a little bit early...

I say...

I don't know when it will be, but hopefully I'll be ina tree. Haha.

I think we'll begin to see younger bucks doing some chasing long about Halloween......The mature bucks to start cruising, looking hard for the first estrous doe around Nov. 2 or 3....Chasing to begin around the 5th......And full blow lockdown around the 10th or 11th......

Sure am glad I'm off work from Nov. 2- Nov. 12......Should be awesome!

The moon is should be up around October 31st. After that there is usually a 48-72 hour period before serious chasing starts. Following a 3-10 day period of heavy chasing. To me chasing is the best time to be out there.

I took off Nov. 3,4,5,7,9,10,11 so I'm putting all my eggs in that basket.Historically the 3 biggest bucks have I killed with my bow have came in this order 1.) Nov 7th 2.)Nov 8 3.)Nov 6. The first 2 fell right in line with the rut, but last years buck that came on the 6th was about a week before the rut started.

I figure that they will go into lockdown mode right around the 12th or 13th with a secondary rut coming in the first week of Dec. It is very common to see chasing going on all the way through the shotgun seasons in late Nov. and into Dec.

I had a 140 class 9 pointer last year at 40 yards chasing a doe around. It was December 14th.
