I don't know about whether they have wolves in Wisconsin, but his feet look to big and his coloring doesn't look like a coyote. Dog or wolf...

I see your listed as WI and Canada, where was this pic taken?

This is one I honestly don't know. I voted wolf but if it's a coyote, it's one of the biggest ones I've ever seen.

Wolf, but it could be a wild dog that is part coyote. It wouldnt be the first one ive seen.

Some dogs will pack up with the coyotes and they willlive together. Therefor when mating season comes around

They have half dog and half coyote pups. Here in Oregon, it isnt abnormal to see dogs runnin with the yotes.

Just my 0.02...............

Wolf no doubt. Seen a bunch of them in U.P. that look just like that particular one.

RE: Coyote, wolf, or????

The markings look like one BIG Coyote to me but the way he is moving with his tail straight up is more like a Dog, but I'm not ruling out Wolf because of the sheer size!

Grasshopper13 09-04-2007 09:43 AM

RE: Coyote, wolf, or????

It's not a coyote. I really think it's a mixed breed dog of some type. I'm having a hard time judging the size, for lack of perspective. But I get the feeling it's larger than a coyote and not quite as big as a wolf. It's also a female and I would expect it to have some younger pups with her by now.
I guess they might have been around but not in the picture.

I say mixed breed dog.

it does have some big paws so I don't think its a coyote its a toss up for me between wolf or dog so i'll say a mix of the two

RE: Coyote, wolf, or????

Saarloos wolfhound, it's a dog but with close dna structure of that of a wild wolf.....

http://www.saarlooswolfhond.org/

it's very rare and expensive dogbreed but, it has it's origin in the wild crossbreeds, so this one might be a lucky offspring.....

RE: Coyote, wolf, or????

way to small to be a wolf. I say husky, not all huskies has the markings in the above pic. many huskies look just like wolves, only smaller.

BigTiny 09-05-2007 01:13 PM

RE: Coyote, wolf, or????

Dog. The ears are a little too small to be a wolf, and it is well-fed as well.

RE: Coyote, wolf, or????

Sure looks like a wolf to me. Way too big boned for a coyote.

Hard to judge a wolf by the color. I've seen them every shade from black to white.

dandbuck 09-05-2007 01:39 PM

RE: Coyote, wolf, or????

My vote is for wolf also, that would be one big dog. The legs look shorter than some wolves, and it's feeding good, but could be cornfed now eh?

No kidding.

It is with out a doubt a timber wolf with a full belly. That one looks like it is in that 80-100 pund range. I see them at least once every 2 weeks. I have pics of one with a radio collar on one of my bear baits from a week ago. Wisconsin has them all over and it is by no means out of the ordinary to see them in the northern half ofWisconsin.

I voted wolf but it is my understanding that wolves do not have rear dew claws and it looks like that animal does.

Dogs can get rather large too, one of mine weighs 110lbs and I keep him somewhat slim.

Only the alpha male and female will breed, and by September they are no longer pups!!!
