I got about 30 acres here in pa. and hunting pressure all around me with possible 4 mature bucks for me to hunt i know are in or around my land. I got some good young deer also. It makes it hard with guys around you meat hunting on adjascent properties.

Zero......maybe 1 or 2 close to home. On my 1500 acres (4 hours away) at least 7 that I know of.

I'll never know what I'm hunting in my areas. I hunt probably a half-dozen different farms - and I only have "exclusive" hunting at two of the spots. So, there are always other people bothering the deer, keeping them tight on the beds. Even in my exclusive spots, there are guys who get in there, so a game camera isn't an option, either.

You can only shine here up through 11p.m., and most of my spots are at least 1/2 hour drive, so I don't get to shine them as often as I'd like. Besides, most of the places - either the fields are not visible from a roadway, or there are no fields to look in.

SW PA is broken down into such a patchwork of property lines, fields, fence rows, roadways and housing developments, and the deer are under constant pressure - and this area is home to some of the most intense hunting pressure in the country. Our deer (at least the ones I hunt) get pushed around - a lot. So there's no way to know exactly what is lurking where - or when.

Glassing and shining - that's it.I refrain from going into my hunting areas to "look for" deer, b/c I don't want to bump out the deer that are there. Glassing from adistance is my best scoutingtool, but again... How many places are there, really, where you can sit 3,4,5,7,900 yards away and glass withoutclearing the field on a bust?

That said, I wouldn't hunt where I do, for as long as I do - if I didn't know there was a mature buck around.

Well GMMAT, you don't hunt one square mile, you hunt 65 acres. By your admission. You base thisherd of yoursat 40 deer estimatedin a square mile, based on sightings of deer 326 times within your65 acres? 40 deer in a square mile is one thing, all 40 of those deer bieng spotted within the same 65 acres over and over is quite astounding. Unless of course there's a nice big feed troft. As far as your hunting prowess, you're the one that said you shot a practice head through an animal. Then again, if you shoot over some particular speed, broadhead sharpness isn't important anyway. Who's the rocket scientist? Can'twait to see picks of your trophies. So exciting!

I have seen slash heard of 3 bucks in one of my hunting areas that are over 4 1/2 years old (200 Acres). Another site which is mainly a travel funnel in an urban area the is one buck that is over 3 1/2 and a couple younger ones(50 Acres).

Why is it so hard to comprehend that 40 deer, over the course of a 2-3 month season, may all cross that 65 acres at some point? Its not like he said he saw 40 deer per night living ONLY in his 65 acres.

Who said anything about knowing every animal? I asked you to guess how many you were hunting. And....if you didn't care....you wouldn't have a game cam out there.

The comment was in gist.... I do not know all of the mature bucks in my areas and I wouldn't want to know all of them either, this is all I was stating.... You read WAY to deep. I make an effort on the properties I feel would give me the best chance of locating a giant buck, other than these two properties I am totally in the dark (and still not sure of these two properties as well) as to what roams there for the most part. I feel each of the areas I huntcan produce mature whitetails that is why I hunt these places.... But as far as a number I really have no guess at all. Also, I never said I didn't care??????

The other stuff I am not going to comment to because what is between you and him is really none of my buisness.

In a regular unit here in Wisconsin, 1 archery and 1 gun season! Unlimited Does! If you go into the Eradication Zones I believe you can kill anything all season long!

My property in Michigan I can kill 2 bucks! 1 or 2 with Bow/no gun buck then or 1 gun and 1 Archery!

Hey valor.. I was the guy who shot the deer with a Muzzy practice head, not Jeff (unless he did it too) - and based on the results of my first episode, well...it couldn't have been any deader. And I'm with Rybo - it's definitely not impossible for 40 different deer to use a 65 acre parcel over an entire season.

I know what you're sayin' Scott. It's kinda nice to hear the footfall in the leaves, and have no idea what's about to step out.

unless of course there's a nice big feed troft
man, your starting to sound like Mr.Longbeard.

I do not know how many I'm able to hunt, but I know the one I'm going to hunt.

Edit: I'd like to know who the actual rocket scientist is
