RE: Whats you Hunting arrow weight

I am shooting a 278 gr carbon 20" bolt topped with a 75 gr Wolverine machanical broadhead total 353 gr arrow traveling 350 fps out of a 220#Excal Crossbow. Only thing I question is the 375gr @326 from a compound. Would like to know draw wieght on that bow to create 326 fps
on a full length arrow.

I don’t get it, what’s to question? My setup is nothing more than “over the counter” stuff. There are now guys shooting well in excess of 350fps with full length arrows and bows not exceeding 70lb & 30”. Granted they are shooting less than 5 grains/pound but 375-400fps is nothing to sneeze at regardless of arrow weight. Case in point…HCA Iron Mace @ 70lbs/30” will shoot a 280gr Speed Pro Max at about 375fps. That’s 87 ft-lbs of kinetic energy and will allow 1 sight pin to 50+ yards.
My setup:
PSE X Force - “Crackerized”
452X Strings and Cables
29-1/2 Measured AMO Draw Length
69lb Draw Weight (1 turn off max)
Whisker Biscuit
Meta Peep
Loop
Kisser Button (using a nock set instead of traditional kisser)
Gold Tip Pro Series 22’s @ 375gr.
Bow setup just as you read…hunt ready…shooting 326fps
All things the same except shooting a 350gr arrow…337fps
Right out of the box (before Mike Carter, AKACrackers, installed the new strings and cables) the bow was shooting a 365gr arrow at 342fps.
At that time the measured AMO draw length was 30-1/2” and I had the draw weight maxed out at 71-1/2 lbs. I was shooting lighter weight composite inserts in my arrows (from Arizona Archery) which lightened my arrow weight to 365gr. Unfortunately these inserts could not withstand the impact of the arrow hitting the target and I had to switch back to Gold Tips heavier aluminum nocks. I shoot a typical Morrell bag target. After less than a dozen shots these composite inserts were began cracking/fracturing upon impact and were being driven up into the arrow shaft splintering the shaft. Since switching to the aluminum insert I have not had a single issue. Believe me…when this arrow hits the target you know it.
All things considered being considered, i.e. type of rest and accessories on the string, this bow easily meets and if properly tuned will exceed the 348fps IBO PSE advertises.
