I believe you. I have been lucky enough not to get infested with them. A funny thing and this is the second time I have heard this. A guy I know went into the woods with his son and daughter. Him and his daughter were wearing shorts. His son wore jeans. His son was the only one to get infested with them. I have heard this before too.

those things are horrible. they are all over the place in ne maryland. the best thing i found besides shaving about 700 of those things off was to get duct tape and press and rip. they came off 50 at a time. just rip with the hair grain and not against. last year i thought i got all of them off with duct tape so i decided to jump in the shower. i took off my britches only to find we were touching heads ...AHHHH! (that did not receive duct tape)[&:]good luck.
try wearing tight under armor under your pants next time. it seems they cant make it through it.

gogo -lol that is where i got them, at elk neck state park. lol i told my buddy about it, and this wekeend he went to retrieve my game cam, i warned him to wear pants, well he didnt listen. when we came out he had hudreds on him. lol, funny thing is he didnt have extra clothes, so i made him strip to his boxers and put his invested clothes in a bag i brought. so he was riding all the way home in jus his boxer shorts, i told him it would be funny if i got pulled over on the way home, lol, i wander how we could explain that to the officer lol. he got a chuckle out of that, we would probably get arrested for indecent exposure (or atleast him lol). but yea, do you guys know when they die off? sept 15 is the opener and i was wandering how many weeks ill have to fight with them for deer space in the woodsl ol. atleast ill be in a tree

geter, i hunt elk neck as well. i saw two nice deer taken from the forest last year. both during rifle. two respectible 8s. Carter... forget about it. ticks galore, anywhere u walk that is grass you ll be covered. i was covered monday walking there. i did get a doe out of there last year.last year there was a very respectible 10 point walking around the community but it was taken by a hunter hunting the strip of woods bw turkey point and the community there.
however. just be ready to pick ticks, chiggers, and more ticks. these places are nasty infested.

i wonder if its elk neck, or really anywhere in MD early in the season. i mean, why would they be just there ya know? but yea, thats where i was at carter, thats the only huntable place on opening day. now im not sure where i want to hunt. i mean the first few weeks i really only want some meet, doesnt need to be bucks ya know, but if there are only a few running around, why waste my time. i need to find some private land to lease or hunt lol, but that has been a lost cause. i have never hunted the forest, just went to the shooting range there. i mean if there are plentiful deer ,i can deal with ticks and all, but if there are other places with same amount of deer, and less devil-buds, maybe i should try elsewhere ya know. i mean i hunted there (carter) in the very late part of last season and saw alllott of sign, tracks, poop, scrapes, alot, but never saw any bucks (saw 1 doe but was too far to shoot). i saw her crossing right in front of the trail when you start to walk down the long trail on carter. now im not sure what to do, and with opening day approaching, i need to get it together. i got my deer cam there and may check tomarrow, but i duhnno now. either way, thanks for the info bud

I opened a zipped bag from about 5 days before with my shoes in it and a big ole tick came out.
Right now I have poison ivy and chiggers from last weekend. I was working in the woods in La.
I prefer both of those to ticks. I'm almost immune to poison ivy since its on every tree in our woods
and chiggers don't carry brain eating diseases.
