I am purchasing a new bow. What kind would you get? How much should I expect to pay? Thanks for the help!

You can expect to pay from 200 to over 700.
It all depends on the bow.
I wont say go and get a BT Patriot cause I have one.
But what I will tell you is to go to as many pro shops as you can and shoot as many different bows as you can and then decide which bow is right for you.

I will second Ausie-guy, everyone is different and also has a different size pocketbook, you can buy the most expensive bow on the market that the best bow hunter yo know swears by and it may stink for you. In some cases you may find that you shoot a less expensive bow better than the top of the line. Always go with what feels the best to YOU!

I would suggest waiting until the ATA show. There will be several manufacturers who will be debuting their new bows for 2003 at the show. You might as well wait and see what all of your choices are before jumping in and buying something. It is later this month so you shouldn't have that long of a wait.

I guess it depends on how much you want to pay. I am a first year hunter and I purchased a high country power force. It came with everything for $350. It was also in some bowhunter magazine as the number one bow for the price. Evidentally it is one of the best dollar for dollar bows out there. good luck!

i kinda have the same prob. i was stuck between the Hoyt razor tec and the ultra tec, then i found out the the bow shop in the next town will do trade in's. well he is a bowtec dealer. so i looked at the mighty might and the patriot. it just so happens that i have friends that own both bows. the patriot is extremly loud at least how my buddy has it set up. both bowtecs are faster than the hoyt's but i own a hoyte magna tec and love it. nice and quiet. (i will be trading a mathews if one is to be traded) i just do not know what i will do. but i know this is the last new bow for a few years unless i want a divorse. i wonder if i could just get a divorse between Oct.-jan. that would solve a lot of problems.
it is a tough decision do as already advised and shoot as many as you can and pick the one that feels the best. myself i will probably stick to the HOYTE wich one i do not know.

Everyone has given good advice. The only thing I could add is make sure you try all the different manufacturers out there. Hoyt makes good bows, I almost bought one myself but ended up with a Martin Phantom II. But so does Mathews, PSE, Martin, Champion, BowTech, and a couple of others I can't remember right now. Don't be influniced by the bows name or price tag. Look more for feel, stability, speed, weight, and forgivness. Good Luck on your search and let us know what you find.
