Default QUESTION: What weighs more?

I am curious how things are across the deer woods among the hunters that visit here...do the older...say... more mature bucks or does, in your neck of the woods tend to weigh more than your...say... average doe fawn, spike, or forkie? I'm just curious as to the average cost per tag per pound of venison across the board. Evidently I'm missing something because it appears that I should be shooting more infant deer than I am. hmmmm...I'm lost and need direction. Can any of the more enlightened folks here show me the way? I know I'm smarter than any wildlife biologist alive and..well...plain and simple it's legal to kill all of these infant deer I see every year so maybe I've been wrong in the past 20 years by letting them go and should just stop torturing myself trying to get the most bang for my buck by waiting until the second day of the season to see what else lives where I "hunt".

Cost per tag?

I pay $45 to shoot all the does I want......and 2 bucks.

Hard to figure that one out by $$/LB......but it'll be "cheap" to say the least......especially when you add in my multiplier.

Here in Illinoisour mature deer get big and fat...........but we also have two buck tags and unlimited doe tagsso I can shootlots ofsmaller ones and I'm still good.

That is until the "Antler Nazi's" try to change it so they can have a better chance to kill a big antlered deer.

Perhaps its not a question of weight so much as a question of how tender the meat is . Who wants to shoot an old 6.5 yr 10 pt with tough stringy meat when you can shoot a young 1.5 yr forky that melts in your mouth .

$25.00 a pop for every buck or does here. The mature deer in my area most certainly weigh more than does or 1 1/2 old bucks. bottom line shoot what makes you happy.

If you are trying to figure out price per pound, there is a lot more to consider. You have paid for the tags, but what are you going to kill it with? What are you hunting out of? What do you wear hunting? Plant any food plots? If so, what did you plant them with? Have a four wheeler just because you hunt? What about a truck?

I think if you look at it, meat is much cheaper at the store. But not near as fun.

Also, don't tell my wife this.[:-]
