My wife and I are headed to Harding county SDhere in 9 days. We've rifle hunted antelope, but this is the first time to bowhunt them. Can't wait until we leave! I'll have a full hunting journal report ready to go, whenwe get back.

Itmight be fun in the group dynamic, but if i was just going by myself...I guess it's not my thing.

I dunno why..they just don't excite me.

I am as always, except this year I'm cheating, 'cause I drew a rifle tag! After killing my antelope the last two years with my bow, this year should be a slame dunk![8D]

Same here Gr8, it's all about the group dynamic and a must on the NE Big Game Animal trail. I'll add another hunt for another species later but one must shoot a Pronghorn sooner or later in the quest.

No wonder out west they call them prairie maggots. [&:] I'm not excited about the whole sitting in a blind waiting but I'd love to spot and stalk and put the camo to the test not to mention me but when in roam. For me it's going to be all about the group ribbin, little jabs, shooting comps in camp etc...with a great group of guys.

I agree, GR8......and with what Rob said. I wouldn't go by myself. I wouldn't go with one other person. I'd go with a group, though.....and I'm looking forward to it, immensely. I want one for the man room.

PA deer hunting this fall. KS whitetail hunting in '08. Pronghorns from WY in '09.

Life is good.

mez,
How was bike week this year? How many fatalities were there. Beautiful area out there. I hunted antelope just in Wyoming a few years back. Killed my goat the 2nd day. I then visited all of the "sites" in the area. I drove down the main street in Sturgis and remembered all the bikes they show on tv. I need to make it out there one year for the rally. I got to Daytona bike week this year. People crashing all over.

Pretty tame, the numbers were way down this year. You could get a hotel room in Sturgis mid week. I think there were only 4-5 fatals this year. Not bad for Sturgis. You should definately see it. Even when numbers are down it is a spectacle.

Guys, I just got back from my DIY public land loper hunt in southern Idaho. First time I have ever hunted lopers and I have lived in this state my entire life.... It was awesome, all spot an stock or ambush type hunting for me. My cousin took me to his old elk honey hole that he always had seen lopers in. He filmed my entire hunt for 6 days. Water was everywhere so we didnt bother with it. We saw a few other antelope hunters but they were either on private ground hunting out of blinds or driving around in their pickups on public land. We didnt see a soul where were hiked up into..it was great! I had a blast, its a hunt I recommend every bowhunter try. We hiked between 5000, and 8000 feet while hunting 1 herd and then half a dozen or so loaner bucks and bachelor bucks ... I missed two different shots, bothshooting low, I really had a hard time gaging the distance in the open country. Hard headed as I am sometimes..I thought It would be no problem..down there in that open country estimating range.. boy was I wrong! All I have ever hunted in thick timber. I really needed a range finder...so I bought one today..anyway, I couldnt have asked for more and If I would have did my job I would have a filled tag.. I learned a good lesson. Its one of the coolest bowhunts I have ever tried..I am definately going back next summer. I got my rookie antelope feet wet, and look forward to the next time make the trip. A rifle hunt would have been a piece of cake...

Good luck to all you guys, I hope you drill one!
