He is an average qb
So.....out of 200+ D1 football progarms......where about <1% of all high school football players get to go on scholarship.......he was one of the 10 or so quarterbacks drafted......signed.....and that rose to starting status.

I'd take those "elite" percentages. Bottom line is.....they're both damned good at what they do.
Okay, average NFL quarterback. Tred does things the "hard way" (using a long bow, spot and stalk...etc.) but where does this make him a good hunter, one of the top in the industry, as you compare him to the likes of Vick, and Pete Rose in their fields of work?

RE: Best and worst of tred Barta

I never comapred him to anyone. I asked if the others were good at what they do.....in spite of their social misgivings.

My only claim.

My fault, Jeff. I guess I did what I wasn't supposed to do.

I don't like the man, but i guess your right, he does it the hard way.

Hell of a fisherman, as well.

I agree.

Heard of him..mostly on here. Never seen a show with him on it. Guess my prioritiesare elsewhere.

Is longbow the new elite status amongst Archery hunters?

never said that, either......but if you've ever tried it.....compared to compound hunting....yeah....it's harder.

(now...you planted the seed you wanted, GR8.....and I fertilized it);)

Hardly! That position has already been taken over by the QDM freaks. Just ask 'em. ;)

Just think the king of freaks lives in Texas where it started:D So it's all your fault Arthur

QDM and George Bush, thx:eek:

I had nothing to do with QDM and I've been griping about it ever since. Quite strange to me that it's getting taken up into the archery world since it was dreamed up by some of the worst enemies of bowhunting season in Texas.

To get to part 2 of your questing post...

Dubbya might not be too swift, but Gore or Kerry would have been better?[:'(]

Jeb, maybe. I think he got a bit more snap in his rubberband than Dubbya at least. I'm goshawful afraid it's gonna be Hitlary we have to contend with next though.[&:]

Oh, but they got some neat stuff behind these high fence places. It's unfortunate you usually can't go more'n 15,000 acres in any direction without running into a fence though. ;)

I thought I would try some of them, So I picked up a pack of them at Jay's to look at them the other day and when I seen the Price of a 100 pack, my brain shot sparks to my hand, my fingers flew open, and they landed back on the shelf. They mustwork real good!

Michael Vick would catch a Crow and make his own fletching..the hard way..or was that Tred Barta and a Falcon..I'm losing track!

I think Matt had it right. To enjoy watching Tred Barta, you pretty much have to take him with a sense of humor. He is pretty self-mocking/tongue-in-cheek, which some either don't get or don't like.

But I do, and so I like his show and the fact that he does things the hard way. Not necessarily the hardest way (like that kid in Russia who hunted bears with a spear...and no, he didn't throw it; he held onto it while he was stabbing the bear..nuts!), but hunting with a traditional bow is very difficult, no matter how you spin it. And that's what I like watching (and his sense of humor).

All of that said, I saw the episode where he was flinging arrows at spooked deer/carribou at 30+ yardss, and I didn't like that, either. And I imagine that he would be a pain in the butt firend to have, but an entertaining one, too. But I still like his show overall.

The guy is a wack job and cracks me up. The moose hunt was one of the best. The guide makes him drag the canoe. He shoots back and high on the moose and says it's a good shot and the guide says "You hit him a little far back and high." and Tred just looks at him dumbfounded. Classic.

I've seen TredBarta take down geese in flight with a long bow.In my opinion he is one of the best archers out there.

RE: Best and worst of tred Barta

Last year I saw an episode where he and a "friend" went offshore fishing. Tred was an overbearing, know-it-all jerk the whole time. All I could do was sit there and think "who in the hell would be his friend if he treated everyone like that" . At the end of the episode, the friends defends Tred by saying "that's just the way he is". If any of my friends talked to me like that, they would probably need a new hunting buddy or at least a boot removed from their @ss.
I saw that very episode. It was the first time I ever saw Tred Barta on a show and is the reason I haven't watched himon one since. My God what an A-hole. I kept thinking that the other guys on that boat must not have one single functioning testicle between them or they would club this SOB in the head and heave him over the side for the fish to dispose of. If he spoke to me that way once, I'd knock a spark off his old @$$. When he woke up it would take an hour to convince him that he hadn't been struck by lightening. From what I hear he can't shoot worth a flip but just based on that one episode I wouldn't care if he could pick lint off a gnats @$$ at 50 yards with a slingshot. I'll never watch any showthat jerk is on again.
