Wow Andy, here in OK it's4 per year total with a bow. 2 bucks/2 does. What a great state to learn to bow hunt in or teach your kids with 4 per day.

HAHAHA! My neighbor has a cottage up around the Dells and I've been spending my summers in that area since I was a little pup. And yes I lost my spot here in Lake county same as Duke,we hunted the same land. Alas it's a subdivisiion now. I do have one stand in Lake county right by me house where I shot my buck 2 years ago.

Yep. They're just deer.
Ya know, I didn't like that statement when I said it. But I didn't know how to get my point acrossed. If we are in a treestand observing, for the most part, feeding deer. It's not Quantum Physics, we are not trying to figure out every aspect of every step. We are observing and either waiting for a shot or we have made the decision to pass on them and simply watch.

We may pick-up on some trivial info..where the deer enters/leaves the area and where did it look, stop, smell...maybe we learn more than we think as compared to non-hunters, but maybe it's just so programmed we don't even realize we are learnin it?? Hows that for Thoughtless Ramblings!! [8D]

I agree with what you said, GR8. But are gaining as much experience"watching" as you would be playing the game?

That was my question.

Are you gainingexperiencewatching those deer go by?

Can Joe gain as much experience watching from the sidelines?

Like I said....rambling....
Jeff, that's a pretty poor comparison. Most of the hunting I do in the fall is in an area that I only get one tag. I end up seeing 80-100 bucks every fall and usually don't tag out until my season is almost over. Therefore I usually pass up at least 75 before I shoot one. So, what you're saying is, I would have gained just as much experience shooting the 75th one vs the 2nd one?

You don't have to kill them to gain experience. Flinging an arrow is only .5% of the equation.
