Took a bunch of hogs this year at our lodge some rifle some bow.I shoot the exact arrow weight and brodhead combination you do and had no problems.My speed is right at 282 and two of the three hogs I arrowed this year were pass throughs .The thrid hit the offside leg , broke it, but didnt exit. Range was 20 yards or less and the hog sizes were from 2-400 lbs.

Watch out for those noses! We have had our best luck by baiting with shell corn 7-10 days prior to hunting. Keep the pile going and wear clean rubber boots when you put it out.These things spook at any foriegn smell.Like everyone else has said they dont see very well but that nose and those ears are tops!

You'll find out that once you shoot a hog in a pile it will be awhile before that particular group will return to that set up. One thing I can say with absolute certainty is hogs learn quick and are super smart animals.

I like to aim for the crease right behind the shoulder in the mid third of the chest. Puts em down quick and also puts you behind the gristle. Given a choice I'll shoot a 200 lb sow any day over any sized boar.Hey, a side arm isnt a bad bet either when bowhunting hogs!! They can and will enact revenge on you given the chance.

But, that's exactly what I'm trying to do. I haven't had any complaints...maybe something's wrong with your arrow. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Like 5shot says stay away from the shoulder shot and you will be OK. I have shot one with a rifle but not a bow. I used to go to Soperton, Ga. and hunt them.

Your equipment sounds good, The advice about the shoulder area is true. I have seen a 300lb boar hit twice in this area and never knew it. The thing walked around for what seemed to be hours before showing a quartering away shot that put it down.

Sour several jugs of corn, Take a post hole digger and dig down about 4 feet or more.(do this in a area that you or the owner wont mind a large hole and in a area that the hogs are coming through) Fill the hole with the sour corn and then cover it with dirt. The hogs will not stop till they have gotten every last piece of corn.

put some corn in a bucket with water and let it sour about a week pryer to hunting and then put it out. If you have time before the hunt put up a feeder they will quickly identify with the sound of it when it goes of. we used to have some that would come to the feeders if it was spun by hand, they learned the sound means food
