Hey i got this spot that is about 20 acres of cattle pasture with lots of big oaks, a few small trees and large bull thistles. How long if left alone will it take to get grown up and nasty. It has large corn\bean fields around it which makes it more appealing. Deer dont live in their now but im thinking if we took all the cattle out that the deer would use it if it got real thick with rose bushes and stuff. Also has anyone had good experinces with over grow cow pastures??thanks for the tips

all I can say is it takes about 10 years for decent tree growth starting from a clearcut area but I know of deer using clearcut areas right after they are cut and it takes around2 years for think cover to grow up above the height of a deer in those areas hope that helps.

It is going to take several years (up to 10) unless you sow in some tall growing grasses. This would speed the process up, as far as the deer using it for beeding up in.

Oct comes around pastures will stop growing until next spring. Just like your yard.
