Due to a due-date for my second daughter in mid-December I'm taking in an early football game (LSU-VT),
before the archery seaon and then am going to hunt as hard as I can starting Oct. 1st.
Before this year, I was feeling pretty lucky because my 2 hunting spots are in 2 different zones in
our state, which gives me almost an extra month of hunting.

In Texas, as long as you're not a deer-only nincompoop, there is something legal to hunt year round. No closed season/no bag limit on feral hogs, for example.
