Default Arrow Scale??

Why does everyone use arrow scales to mesure weights. How important is it? What is the effcetive weight for completed arrows?

Default RE: Arrow Scale??

Arrow weight is pretty important. You don't want to go too light with arrow weight. Too heavy is better than too light. The reason is because if your arrow is too light for your bow weight your arrow will flex too much causing your arrow to take longer to recover and fly straight. You want to go as light as you can for speed but if you want KE you want a heavier arrow. Your bow manufacturer should provide you with what weights they recommend for your setup. I don't personally see a need for a scale as your arrow manufacturer shouldprovide a weight per inch for your paticular arrows. Take the weight per inch and multiply that by how long it is, add your broadhead weightand I always add 5 grams per fletch. That will give youa very close weight thus, no need for a scale.

My arrows are 8.9 grams per inch and they are 29". This equals 258 g. plus 100 g. broadheads makes them 358 plus 15 g. for my fletchings and this makes my arrows about 373 grams.

I hope this helps...
