RE: How many years to get to 20?

Illinois' wonderful over the counter unlimited doe tags has allowed me to take a number of deer in my 10 years of hunting. Last year I was able to take #19-#22. It took me 2 years to get my first deer, but since then I've enjoyed some success.

5 years 10 deer. Then another 5 deer last year alone so 15 total havent hit 20 yet maybe this year after thinning some does for the freezer.

All in all, I've taken 55 with a bow in about 25 years of archery hunting.

Most were does and fawns. 15 were bucks. Most of them were small.

For a long time we were only allowed 1 deer/year. But now I'm up to unlimited as long as I keep buying the tags.
..and I read all the griping from Pa hunters about the lack of deer? the "unlimited" WILL eventually lead to more griping,I believe..... WV tried that, and changed it when the herd suffered, and hunters started griping about the lack of deer......

personally,I don't reaqlly know how many deer I've taken in the past 40+ years....don't really matter.I'm not out there for ego,I'm out there to be a part of the heritege. keeping score is for Rummy.......... [:-]
