RE: I bit the bullet.....HOYT
It's pretty much an unwritten (in some cases written) rule that when being sponsored by a manufacturer that you really need to be promoting and exclusively shooting their bows for that contract year. If for some reason something comes up such as employment with a shop that doesn't sell Ross...........then do one ofthree things. Work with your local dealer to get the Ross line in there (win in everyones POV),call Andy and explain the situation to him and that you feel that you cannot fulfillthe requirements of a good representative of Ross and that you wouldn't feel right about accepting a free bow from him, or bit the bullet and shoot the Ross for the rest of the contract/expected time from Ross.
Just MHO.......but because they were nice enough to make you an offer like this, then you owe them one of these three things. |

ORIGINAL: GMMAT Hey LT..... Ever wonder why we don't see Dale Jr. drinking a Miller Lite? Tiger wearing Pumas? And...I buy a bow when I want to....and if and when I can justify the expense. What you or anyone else shoots concerns me not. Cougs loyalty is a dying art these days, I for the life of me can not understand why anybody who is getting a 700.00 bow for free would even think about another bow. What do I know, Good luck in whatever you choose to do. It is 100% your choice. |
RE: I bit the bullet.....HOYT
Echoing what Germ said, loyalty seems to be a dying character trait.
I've seen people leave their bosses who supported them through thin times just for a little more money. People abandon their "friends" over one fight. It's part of the individualistic it's all about you culture that has been building up. If you are the center of the universe then everything else is something to be used to further your ends. Allright, off soapbox, and not necessarily talking about you Cougs, just talking about a general decline in loyalty (not to mention "manhood"). [:@] Oh, and I don't think endorsements and sponsorships represent loyalty. They are a contractual agreement to only use that product for which that person is paid. So I am not saying that I think paid sponsors are necessarily "loyal." |
RE: I bit the bullet.....HOYT
LT, I agree mostly with what you have to say.....But in this case, Cougs hasn't even GOTTEN the bow yet.....and he's already talking about buying a different one...If I were Andy (which thankfully I'm NOT) I would keep said bow and maybe give it to someone else......As far as getting a new bow every year.......What does it matter to you if someone does or doesn't? Have they spent your money? No, I think not, so why would it concern anyone if so and so buys a new bow every year? Maybe some can't afford it, maybe they just like the one they have and just don't want a new one.....Fine. But it's not status, my friend....It's not to look cool, hip, and all Hollywood......Folks get new bows every year first of all because they can, and secondly they enjoy it.

ORIGINAL: LouisianaTomkat You know, I have a hard time responding to threads on here sometimes. I just think people get a little too keyed up over "things". OK so Coug has Ross giving him a free bow. OK. Now, he shoots another bow and likes it. Cool. He speaks of "maybe" purchasing one he likes it so much. Now, If this were me, and it's not, I would have to wonder just how much this is gonna hurt Andy's feelings. Well, I guess you could look at it like this. Some of us "spend" $1000.00 or more each year on "the latest and greatest" bow out there and absolutely nothing is wrong with last years bow or the one from the year before. So, why do we do this? Status. Pure Status. I have to have what "he's" shooting, "she's" shooting, "they" are shooting. Oh the technology is so much better.(this is true in some instances) Well, I say poo poo. When you get the bow that's right for you. At least keep it for 3 to 4 years or more. Unless you just have to have the new toy on the block. You see, Coug has found a new toy, much like some here do every day. Do we honestly believe Andy has always shot Ross? I doubt that is where he started. Maybe someone "gave" him a new bow when he got started. Did he keep shooting it until he made Ross Bows? I doubt it. Is he still singing the praises of the bow that was given to him? I doubt that too. Although he may be still singing praises of the person who gave it too him. The bow is a piece of gear. The friend is a real live person with feelings. How long do we sing praises of the bow we shoot as compared to how long we sing praises to those who help us and are our friends? Man, what priorities are mixed up in this world. Coug works for a Ross dealer. He signs his check. Would you rather be loyal to those who have you by the payroll, or those who give a gift out of the goodness of their heart? I think both. If his employer is OK with him praising Ross in his shop, then I think Andy could be OK with him singing praises of Ross "and" Hoyt on an open Forum. If he (Andy) is not OK with this, then this speaks volumes about the "gift" he gave to Coug. My 3c. LT |
RE: I bit the bullet.....HOYT
Coug's is a young dude still learning the ropes. I agree with what all of you are saying, and I hope he reads this and it sinks in. No harm done, just need to watch what you state, and in the manner you state it in. Enjoy the Cardiac Cougs. ;)

Matt/PA is in the industry, he knows how the business works, and how manufacturers think and are affected by the actions, or even words of others. I'd heed his advice.
If it's not heeded, Mr. Ross I'm a lefty that would love to have a Cardiac, and would most likely have one if they hadn't taken so long to ship.;) Seriously, stick with Ross, they're doing a great service for you. |
