I'll give them a few minutes to clear out. IF they don't, like is likely to happen in an oak flat I'll finally clear my throat or something. If that doesn't work I've actually thrown a water bottle or something down to make thunk. If that doesn't get them nervous enough to move on I break out a light and shine it on them and wave it around. That usually sends them off... usually not in a panic.. but a high stepping "something isn't right" mode.

I just sit in my stand till they are gone. My grandfather uses the "dog bark" method.

I had a bunch of deer meandering around fairly close to my stand when it was too dark to shoot. I started barking like a dog, they ran 20-30 yards then stopped, turned, and nailed me. I guess the dog not chasing them got them curious? Maybe I just have a lousy bark.

You don't want them to look up and bust you in the stand. Carefully and quietly send your bow down on your haul line and jiggle it. They'll run off w/o looking up at you.

ORIGINAL: Arthur P

Since I don't climb trees, it's easy. When it's too dark to shoot but still light enough to see where I'm going, I just back out, slow and easy. Stalking, but in reverse.
What he said except I will wait til dark sometimes.

I'll wait them out untill it's too dark to see anything and then slither out the back door.

Something about using a coyote call when it's dark out and calling them to you for your walk back to the truck............. doesn't excite me too much.[:-][8D]
