Default Whitetail population density map

I thought this was pretty cool. Its a map that shows the whitetail population densities for each county or town in the US.

It showed my density as being greater than 45....... That would be somewhat optimistic.

Don't know where you hunt Peakrut, but check out the DNR site. They also have deer density maps and it may actually be higher than that.

Using averages for an entire county may be the misleading aspect of this site. I know from my hunt county, which is mostly corn and soybean fields, that the average may be less than 15 deer/mile, but in particular hunt area, this number is way to low. Most days that I hunt, I can view 10-15 deer from my tree stand.

Now are you guys sure you want to come to Kansas and get the big 180 behind every tree? We have one of the smallest deer populations in the country, but probably are one of the best deer management states. You guys on the eastern side of the country are covered up.

I am in an area that says there are less than 15. Last year I saw up to 25 deer filter through in one afternoon.

That's a really neat map. I think it would be even better if it was accurate. I live ina high deer density area (Phila suburbs) and it says the opposite.

The range includes the beanfields and cornfields since the deer use these, overall density is less in heavily populated areas due to lack of bedding cover, but density can still be high if you know where to look.
