Default copper johns Help!

I Just bought a copper johns hunter sight. It has a orange ring around it and a level. The problem is that when I look through my peep sight I can't see either one. What do I need to do to take full advantage of this sight? Larger hole in peep , no peep??? Also Is it advantageous to keep your bow completly level each time you shoot? Before I had a simple sight and never worried about these things, but I want to take full advantage of these features. Please help!

I have the same sight, and I'm having difficulty trying to picture how you cannot see either the ring or the level through your peep sight. Most likely, one of two different scenarios could be true:

1) Your peep is not fully aligning properly. If it's off a degree or two, you will still be able to see through the peep, but you won't be able to see fully or clearly. If you installed the peep at the same time you got either a new bow or new string/cables, your string will creep and change the rotation of the peep. I'm guessing this is what you've got; or

2) You have an extremely small diameter peep, like those used for target shooting. Even with a small diameter peep, you should be able to see the whole sight, but this is a possibility. I have a full 1/4" peep site, and have used this size for many years.

Hope this helps.

I have a Copper John and it's a great site. The level and circular housing has helped me improve my grouping at longer distances. Like MO said it sounds like your peep is not lining up correstly or you need a larger dia. hole. I shoot a peep with the largest dia opening I can get. This will also help in low light conditions. It's called a "NoLose" peep with four slots instead of three. With this peep it opens up the distance between strings. It's just large enough to out line the orange housing which helps me with constant head and anchor position. The level will also help your gpouping. It will stop you from canting the bow. You can also shoot without a peep but with a good working peep it's like having a rear site. I think they made this site with a peep in mind. If not they still work well together. JERRY

I just installed a spot-hogg sight which is similiar to yours. I shoot a hunting size peep and can't see all the white outline of the pin guard either. I just try to line up centered the best I can by moving slightly left, right , and up, down until I figured it's centered. You'll be able to do it very quickly with pracice. I love the improved groups I'm getting. As far as the level...I keep both eyes open and level the bow first before I look through the peep. I think the level is a gimick anyway for hunting.

I would disagree. I use the level on each and every shot I take, and making myself use it helps my accuracy. It may have to do with the ATA of your bow, as well as a variety of other factors. I'm shooting a short ATA (31&quot bow, and find it easy to cant if I'm not careful with form. The level helps my form.
