they found the deer didn't they.... so the shooter did something right. I am NOT saying the practice of unethical shots should be commended... I am just saying that people are pretty quick to jump on show producers backs about shot placement... when you are only seeing it from the camera's eyes not the hunters.... I have not seen the shot nor do i know the host and producers that show.... And another thing people don't understand that producers need to get 13 or 26 shows a year... 13 isnt all that hard, but when you have a quality show and you have to produce 26... how many of you killed 26 animals in one season, let alone with your bow? This is there livelihood, if they don’t get a show they don’t get paid, and trust me there are tons and tons and tons of cost making a show.

I have to agree with my counterpart from NY on this one..... (Atlasman)

Theend most definitely does not justify the means. If it were a head shot would you condone that? I mean...as long as he recovered the animal?????

I thinkthe hunting on film industry owes it to the rest of us to cast our passion in a good light. I might be looking through rose colored glasses....but I think they owe it to us to at least do that.

With out a doubt the hunting industry owes its fans and viewers quite a bit, no question at all. I do not condone any unethical shooting practices. All I am saying is a quartering shot through the chest that seem to do its job is not that bad of a shot. For example a head shot with a bow..... if at extremely close distances with a straight down shot.... i might not take it but i would fault someone that would if they felt comfrotable taking the shot, go for it. I killed my first Pope and Young deer that was at a slight angle away from me that went through the front side of his front leg through the heart both lungs, liver, and out just infront of the opposite side back leg.... was that a bad shot, no it was one of the quickest kills i ever had, it ran 15 yards and dropped. But again for that shot that deer was 10yards from my ground blind. i felt comfortable taking that shot.

Well, I disagree with that initial assessment, that if the result was successful (got the buck, elk, etc), then the huntermust have doneok. An acquaintence said something similar to me when we recovered his (intentionally) hip-shot buck. grrrr...no clue... justnot the kind of people Iwant to see carrying a bow into the woods...

But I do not have a problem with the producers showing a poor shot - for oneit gives us ethics police something to rant about.

when is enough, enough!? Too many shows are showing bad shots imho. Not only does it give "ethics police" somthing to rant about, it also fuels the fire for the anti's? just my 2cents.

You hit the nail on the head with that statement. Sometimes, I like to see these big time hunters miss (not mame) their quarry. I feel it gives other hunters the impression that they can make mistakes too like anyone else. However, the "big time hunter" should not purposely take shots such as this. That definitely gives us hunters a bad rep.
