Just got invited on a "management" hunt.

Outfitter in OH......happens to have a side business that I contract with. JUST called and invited me on a hunt.....at "cost". We talk for a while....and he realizes I know enough not to sound dumb. I offer to do "management" hunt....and he says "no cost".....if I'll take a doe, too.

So....would this be something you would do? it goes back to my "restrictions" thread. I'll be hunting under his "restrictions".....but it'll only cost me an OH license.

I'm guessing I could possibly be looking at a 140"+ "management" deer if it pans out. LOTS of things would have to align.....but I think I'll do it if I get the chance. If nothing else....It would be cool to see a TRUE "monarch" on the hoof.....even if I had to just watch.

Sounds like a good opportunity... Go for it.

Absolutely I would do it. Sounds a great opportunity at potentially very nice deer. I know you have commented in other threads about what you consider to be a good deer for your area, and you could possibly meet those criteria on y our OH hunt. A good friend of mine has a lot of land here in IL, and he has invited me on doe hunts, and they are fun. Saw two GIANTS last year on those hunts, and it is really cool to see them up close.

I guess I'd have to have something in writing saying I wouldn't shoot anything that he didn't want shot (i.e. a "mistake").

How's $1 an inch for every one over 140" sound?...lol:D

Let's see...no cost, two deer, chance to possibly shoot a huge management deer and the possibly of seeing a deer of a lifetime in field...only if have nothing better planned. Seriously, what a wonderful opportunity...congrats. ;) I am assuming this is a free-ranging outfit?

Red Boar.

Good Point....and NO....it is NOT a "free-ranging" outfitter. It is NOT. I didn't point that out....simply because I forgot to. This IS a fenced hunt.
