I guess each day is different. Some days it's all about the moment, others my mind seems to wander from work, family, finances and God.
I do tend to hear every sound as a deer in the darkness as well. Kind of disappointing though when the light breaks and it was a opossum or a rabbit but, ocassionally a shadow steps out right under your tree and when that happens, you realize ITS DARK and BIGFOOT may exist......

I think about life, and usually what's involved with my life at that time. Sitting in the treestand in the dark is the best way for me to reflect back on things that are happening...

I ususally (no lie) get a grin on my face from ear to ear.
There's not much I do that's any more special than THAT moment. I take it ALL in.
And Wash......I'm with you. It wouldn't be long 'til I took a 'lil nappy-poo.

...only a true killer would be smiling in anticipation of committing such an act!

From: Heaven is my home, temporarily residing in WNY :)
It really depends on the situation ......
Deep in the season, when the freezer is almost full of venison, I am thinking, I coulda stayed warm and curled up next to my beautiful wife ....
Usually though, I am thinking of my walk in and what I heard, did I spook anything, etc.
After this thread, I'll be thinking of how LT jumped down Wash'sthroat for no good reason ...... [:'(]

After I'm all set up, I say a silent prayer, thanking Him for my health and family and for allowing me one more season to hunt and experience the great outdoors. I reflect upon past hunts from the same stand, the success I've had and also the mistakes I've made that caused me to go home without venison but not necessarialy empty handed.
