Maximum shooting distance
#41
There is certainly 2 camps when it comes to max range(with a few others sprinkled in between)....those who tryto shoot as far as they possibley can, and those who try to get as close as they can, and could care less about shooting far.

Try moving a stand closer to the area your seeing the deer before season scout it out well in advance run two stands if necessary if your deer continue the sane habit you have closed the gap for a closer shot your confident with and still have your favored stand to fall back on

It would be easier for you to try to move to a place that you can get a closer shot.

Just kidding. But the dangest thing happens when I tell those ruttin' bucks where to come and stop.

I have had some 40-50 yd shots that I just could not take. Shakes are bad at 50 yds.

You need to determine your maximum effective HUNTING distance. So put on your hunting clothes, screw in the broadheads you plan on hunting with, climb up into the treestand you plan to hunt from, in the woods you plan to hunt in, and have somebody randomly place a 3d target at various UNKNOWN distances from 5 yards all the way up to 50 yards. See how you do, and then you tell us what your maximum effective hunting range is.
