Default Using a decoy

I am going to use a decoy for the first time this fall and was wondering if anyone had some advice on the best way to use it, i.e., time of day, placement, grunting and rattling? Thanks.

for a doe place no more than 15 yards from your stand same with a buck decoy, also have the doe quartering away from you a buck you want quartering towards you.

Decoys are fun..But like anything else hit and miss. I advise use a buck decoy, along with grunting & rattling. Just as the late prerut is kicking in. Set him so as the buck approaches (which he will do head-on) so it provides you an open shot!

Yep what GR said and I also go 1 step farther by only putting 1 antler on your decoy it doesn't seem to scare the little bucks as much!! Walt

I'm excited about using the new Flambeau Master Series decoy this Fall

Add one of the MAD Invisi-Growl callsto the leg and you've got an incredible set-up!

all you need after that is a moving tail and a head that turns, and you'd be set...

Man that is one mature looking decoy. Probably scare the hell out of most of the deer in my woods!

Don't forget making steam come out of his nose while he grunts
and scent wick behind the tail!

That master series looks great but it is a hoss!
I think most of the deer in my woods would have to come by just to pay
their respects to the Godfather. Maybe pulling an antler off would help.

I've been thinking about using one. Bought one last year on mail order but had to return it because the body cavity was so poorly made it wouldn't even close. I won't dispariage the company since they took it back.
