YOUR buck to doe "harvest" ratio?

I know a lot of people have been talking about shooting does and stuff, so what's your buck to doe ratio of all the deer you've taken?

I realize some states make it difficult to take does, so if that is the case state so.

I've got a 1:2.75 buck to doe ratio. For the majority of my hunting career, I've been able to take multiple does per year, but only ever 1 buck.

Average about 10 does and 5 bucks a year.

This is really my fourth year of serious bowhunting. I've taken 4 bucks and just one doe with the bow. Now that I've got a few archery deer under my belt, I'll be more selective about the bucks that I take. At this point, I think I'll only shoot a buck if it's worthy of going on the wall. Otherwise, I'm taking a doe.

24 years of bowhunting and I would guess 2 does per buck on an average, some years it may be 3 does per buck.

On the land that I hunt, we try and take at least twice as many does as we do bucks. Usualy we do a pretty good job of it, actualy its usualy a little over twice as many does compaired to bucks taken. Last year I killed 4 does and one buck.

I would guess my average over the last 18 or so years would be 2 does to 1 buck but now days I average more like 3 does to one buck.

In 14 years of bowhunting 7 bucks(I have been kinda selective) and I think 32 does, best as I can come up with. The most was 6 does in one year. Where I hunt you can buy unlimited doe tags. The herd needs to be thinned.

I've gotten 17 doe and 9 buck, that's about 2-1.The B/D ratio where I hunt is about 10 doe to one buck.[:@]

5 or 6 Does for every Buck is generally what we strive for. Of course, IL has NO LIMIT on Antlerless-Only Archery deer so that makes it easy.

A typical year for me at home is one buck and two does. That would be inclusive of all seasons, bow, rifle, muzzleloader.

This mirrors me to some extent. I think Dan alsocited "recent" figures. I'll come clean on all accounts.

This will be my 3rd deer hunting season. The 1st year....I took nothing. Last year...my buck/doe ratio was 4:1. Well that's just pitiful (I know, now). I shot a 7 pointer for my first deer ever.......a 2.5 yr old that I'd never shoot, now, but for my first deer...I sure was (and AM) proud of him. My second deer was a piebald BB. No regrets, so far. My third was a buck I shot outside my hunting area....on the Eastern side of our state (2 hrs from my home). In this zone...it's a 4 buck area (can legally take 4 bucks a season), and I had a family of 14 that I was going to donate anything shot to. The guys told me to shoot anything. I did. Back home....I took a doe in late Oct. I then took my 8 pointer on 12/9.

After the season....I started asking a lot of questions towards my GW....I went to a QDMA seminar.....started a dialogue with my wildlife biologist (NCWRC biologist for my area). I wanted to learn how to make the herd HERE healthier.

Knowing what I know, now......I wouldn't change a thing (about LAST season). Knowing what I know, now.....I'll approach this and subsequent seasons a LOT differently. At the end of THIS season.....my overall buck:doe ratiowill likely be better than 1:2 (yes....I plan on shooting 7-8 does, THIS year). I'll adjust for '08, accordingly.

I have never taken a deer that I wished I hadn't. I hope to always be able to say that.

RE: YOUR buck to doe "harvest" ratio?

I hunt with a bow, shot-gun and rifle. I normally Knock down a doe right out of the gate. I use her glands and pee to try to attrack the big boys, esp in early Nov. After that I'll wait to fill most my doe tags until later in the season.
Most seasons I'll get five doe and zero to one buck. I usually end up with one tag unfilled since I held out...

27:2 hows that? You could actually say 26:3 cuz I got a 4 pt doe back in 94.

This ratiowas brought on by mostly hunting Pa and the inability for a non-res to score doe tags. The biggest chunk of the bucks were during rifle season.

One of the doe was last year (bow)and I'll do much much better now. As I mostly hunt Ohio with Bow. I target 3 does and one wall-hanger this year in Ohio..and hopefully a respectable Buck and doe in Pa.

That would be a lot of does kill for a Michigan Hunter:D I have a friend who is 63-0;)

Last year, during the season only, it was 0:32

Over the course of my life...I can only guess at the does, but seeing as how it takes one monster of a buck for me to drop the hammer I'd suspect its 6:~250 And those does are just during the season...if you included culling....make it closer to 600.

Bowhunting my ratio is 1:0. Including gun hunting it's about 1:5. I'm certainly doing my part to get the population where it needs to be, now it's just a matter of getting the others that I hunt with to be more selective.

RE: YOUR buck to doe "harvest" ratio?

Last year I shot 2 does and 1 buck. For the rest of the years I would have to say it is closer to 3 does per buck.
