The post about the mx-3 or mx-4 got me thinking? Have any of you guys ever put broadheads through a penetration tests? I actually had a buddy do a small test on two diff muzzys dont remember which grain but one was 3 and one 4 bladed, and the three bladed did much better then the four? He used the wet newspapers target! It didnt persuade me much cause im still shootin the 90gr muzzy 4 blades and dont have a problem with penetration, but i was just wondering???

In any given broadhead design, a head with fewer blades will always out penetrate one with more. The physics behind it is the mechanical advantage of the broadhead. You can use the formula to evaluate any head with just a tape measure and a calculator. The formula is:
Mechanical Advantage = Length cutting edge / ((cut diameter*.5) * number of blades)
Mechanical Advantage = Length cutting edge / ((cut diameter*.5) * number of blades)

I wont probly ever use four blades unless you cout bleeder blades because they arent half as accurate.
Although if i was i would get the slick tricks over any other four blade broudheads.
