offset or helical for blazers

Ive been playing around with my blazers and using different degrees of offset, I havent tried helical at all. I was wondering if anyone has tried both and had any noticable differences. My arrows seem to fly awsome out to 50yards, havent tried any further yet. Thats shooting with the G5 Strikers not just field tips,so Im not sure if its even worth going to helical.

Either is better than straight, but I fletch mine right helical......I believe that's the method Bohning recommends as well.

Yeah, Im not a big fan of straight fletched arrows either. Im using maybe an 1/8'' offset at most and it seems to work great.

I have tried both with little difference. I use helical because thats what the clamps for my jig are. I borrowed straight clamps from a friend to try offset. We both use Jo-Jan fletching jigs. He is always borrowing my helical clamps for his feathers. I like the look of helical better although they flew the same or I should say that with my skill level there was no noticable difference. A better archer may be able to tell.

Im guessing cause of how short they are, that helical probably wouldnt slow it down too much more then a slight offset. At least insided 60yards or so.

I've got a right-offset helical on my blazers and they do the trick. It's hard to get much offset with the 2" blazer vane.

If you want to shoot past 50 yards at game get a .270 winchester!

Helical on a blazer is a tough buy, just too small. I would use a little offset at best.

I use the RH clamp on my Bitz to fletch 2" Blazers and all it bassically ends up as is a very slight twist that you barely notice. However, I do believe that it is ALWAYS best to try to impart some spin on any hunting arrow.

From Bohning Webpage:

How should Blazer vanes be fletched?
We recommend fletching Blazer vanes with a helical or a 2 to 3 degree offset.

They're jig that is specific for Blazers has this offset.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. I've had some people tell me helical and some tell me offset.
