I'm with the others, just too short for helical to really do any good. I use a slight offset on all my arrows, seems to work fine for me. And you need as much offset or helical on these as you would a softer vane.

They shoot about as good as feathers do for me, just don't have any forgiveness is all.

And using these vanes with a straight fletch defeats the purpose of using them, you might as well use a larger cheaper vane if you are going that route. Actually feathers work the best if you are using a straight fletch becuase they have a natural curve to them anyway and they have more drag.

Even though you are correct in saying it's not a visually obvious as a 4" vane, it's still there. You can see it, and it's effective. The amount of helical is the same, it's just proportionate to the fletching size. A 4" feather doesn't have as much as a 5" feather, but it's still there.

Thanks for the info guys, minus the ethics police. I shoot alot further than 50 yards, just not usualy at animals. I think I would choose a 300 over a 270 anyway ha ha.

I use right helical for 2" blazers off my Bitzenburger. Its a good set up. My arrows fly very well and my groups are good and tight assuming I do my part.

Don't people take shots with a bow at antelope past that range?

Plus, if it's between 50 and 125 or so a good handgun would be acceptable.;)

Or, ashotgun with slugs.

Or, a muzzle loader.

I'm sure there are people out west that regularly take shots at game out to 40 and 50 yards. There just isn't that much cover in some places. Prong Horns probably require a farther than normal shot as well I would think.

Ok, this thread was started asking about offset or helical for blazer vanes not ethical or unethical distances. Im not apposed to a thread starting for that but I really didnt intend on this one going there.

My comment was more about distances you can shoot than about ethics. And when you talk about distances you talk about stabilizing the arrow over a longer distance.

From my understanding of their site. The Blazers allow that without having to use helical. Of course, the twist is so small that I doubt the helical looks much different from the offset.
