"Disadvantages" of a 10" stabilizer?
#22
Personally, I really don't care how MH uses his 11.5" Doinker. That's his business and I don't wanna know about it.
Seriously, I had an 11" carbon rod stabilizer for hunting several years ago and I did not like it. I do use a longer stabilizer in the 11"-12" range for 3d, but for hunting I like to keep them 7" and under. The reason for this is I found that I was bumping things in my stand with the longer stabilizer.
For the distances I will shoot for hunting I can hold steady enough to smash the 10 ring on the deer, so it hasn't been a problem.

I've never noticed the 10 ring on a live buck before. I'll have to look closer this year.
Seriously, I've been considering going to a bigger stabilizer to help me hold a little more steady, but I'm not conviced that it'll help considering the fact that it would add more weight. This is one area where I have no experience at all.

You can only see the 10 ring on PA deer. It's a genetic thing the game commission came up with to help us Pennsyltuckians shoot straighter.

I got a good laugh out of that. I may have to consider a longer stabilizer then. Hunting out of my Viper SS, I have to get the bow above or outside the rail, so I don't see a problem with a longer stabilizer except for walking in. Next time I go to a shop, I'll see if he'll let me try one.

I also have an 11.5 inch doinker (a blessing and a curse). It has been up and down(that doesn't sound very good)100's of trees.I have never had a problem with it getting in the way.It would seem if your alley way up in to a tree is that narrow you are going to have more problems than just being concerned about your stabilizer.
