Default the sweet smell of success

Well Friends, it happened. After 4 days of hunting, HARD for turkeys with archery equip i tagged my bird. I tagged him sat, the day before the final day. I woke up sat. morning with the sound of my buddies piped truck, still way tired from my prior three days of hard hunting. It was 5:00 am when we pulled out of the driveway (my three friends and i)to the easment wich is about a mile down the road. We get to the spot and grab the two double bull matrixs and head afield. We get all set up around 5:20. We were hunting a dusting spot at the corner of a corn field and a food plot,(the same place i'd been hunting the days prior) with much scouting, i knew they were there. We heard about 5 gobbles, while the birds were still roosting, they hit the ground and were silent for a good twenty minnutes. Then i saw him about sixty yards to the left of me, and let out a few yelps, and cut a little, he instanlty gobbled and went into strut but didn't come any closer. I'm not sure he ever got a visual on the deeks. Then after about ten min. of this, he ran (litterally) back into the woods, after hearing a few yelps from some hens, and a gobble. On tape i said "oh don't worry he's not the one i wanted" when really i was just mad hha. Then i called a little more and put everything down. I closed up the blind completely around, and remembered i had to show my partner a few past bowfishing movies i had on film, upon reviewing them for about five min. he glanced up he wisperd some explicits and grabbed the cam and started rolling, i grabbed my bow and got into position. He slowly slid down the blind revieling the deeks, other blind set, and the jake, now in full strut. He was spittin and he threw a shoulder into my intruder jake decoy.I drew back and THAWAK! 6 yard shot just wacked him. My bow is a hoyt trykon set at 68#. At six yards you would expect a complete pass through like butter, however not the case. Tipping my Beman arrow was a NAP "gobbler getter" Spitfire, and needless to say it did its job. I hit him right in the sweet spot on the wingbone, he ran and expired 15 yards away, almost running into the 2nd blind. It was a great hunt, and we have great footage, my buddies in the other blind thought i was craaazy they have the bird working on film and i would have had numerous other chances if i was paying attention. 2 camera angles, and again i say it, simply great footage. It was a great hunt, with great friends and i will have memories to last a life time. Good luck to all. KP
