Roskoe, I thought about that very same thing with the Rocky Mountain Snypers I used which are the same design. Then I thought about it, and the way the blades deploy if there is too much resistance and the blades can't cut throught the ribs (which I believe they would) they should cam inward due to their design and when around the hard obstruction should cam back outward to their full cutting diameter. The would in theory use less KE than a fixed head that had its blades catch on bone that could not be cut.
