Looking Down Arrow to Shoot?
My compound bow has become totally inaccurate with my sights, have any of you ever tried just looking down the arrow to shoot. Of course I wouldn't shoot at a deer more than 15 yards away doing this, but I have heard some old timers tell me this is the only way they have ever done it. What do you guys think? Can it work and have you tried it?

I know a few "string walkers" that look down the arrow. Based on the info you provided I am assuming that the inaccuracy is not you but a bow that may need a significant amount of tuning. I would get it checked out!

I used to shoot NFAA Barebow, which is essentially what you're refering to. Accuracy is not a problem. As a matter of fact, the best shooters in that class score upper 290's on 300 rounds.

Your bow maybe inaccurate because of the Shooter attached to it. Throw away the shooter and get a new one-<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I agree, with the others... it's not the sights(unless they've moved) it's something with the bow tune.

Either you have a tuning problem or a flaw in shooting form. Whichever, your suggested aiming alternative will reduce accuracy, not make it better. I would not hunt with this bow at any yardage until problem is identified and resolved.

thanks, i was zoned in, shooting 2 inch groups before the season, then without actually taking a shot with my for about a month, i picked it up and was way off, i tried looking down the arrow and found that i was much more accurate shooting by looking down the arrow than using my sights. I shoot a PSE lightning flight, it is about 7 years old. 90 grain broadheads, 55 lbs. i also shoot with my fingers, maybe i should start over and get a new bow, the only thing is i don't want to put more than about $400 in to it. any suggestions?

portable ladder - I think you may have just stumbled onto the reason your bow is off.
If you were practicing before season and shooting 2" groups, but haven't shot since, my educated guess would be the month time lapse since you were shooting regularly until now has allowed all the muscles involved to go "out-of-tune".
This affects muscle control, hand-eye coordination, quite possibly even changing your anchor point. Any one of these and others will cause accuracy deviations.
Check your bow just for confidence that it it O.K., but as my signature says...
