Do you personally like to get game more or do you like to see others get it. Don't get me wrong I love to hunt and nothing beats being successful myself, but I love to see others do well also. I have a friend who finally got a bull this year after seven years of the hardest hunting you could imagine. I have hunted with him for about three years now and it is never a question of desire with this guy because he hunts as hard as anyone I have ever met. Well the cards finally came together for him this year and he finally got his bull. I did not get one but the fact that he did almost makes me forget I never even got a shot this year. Does anyone else out there have a similar experience? I'm sure there are some fathers and sons out there who can relate. I guess this season wasn't all bad as I did get my first buck with a bow. If anyone wants to see it go to MTElksnipers wep page. Mine is the little one on the bottom. Happy hunting!!!

It is always nice to see someone succeed at bowhunting. It is especially nice to be with someone when they harvest their first animal! I agree with you it is very exciting!

By the way congratulations on the nice looking buck.

Me and my Dad are pretty close. When one gets a deer it's like we both got it.

I love killing an animal myself, but if I get the opportunity to take somebody out and get them on an animal, it is much more enjoying for me. I've got plenty of time to hunt on my own, so when I do get the opportunity to go with somebody else, I'm usually rooting for them.

I realy like helping someone to get their first deer. I have done it 3 times now, and can't wait for my 4 year old to get his first!

DEPENDS, IF I HAVE TAKEN THAT SPECIES AND THE OTHER GUY HAS NOT I THINK IT'S MORE FUN FOR THEM TO GET IT. OTHERWISE IT'S A DRAW.

I really enjoy taking an animal, especially if its a certain one I have put a lot of time on. BUT I have helped 3 others get their first deer and I was as excited as they were.

To me, it's as enjoyable to be there when a friend or relative gets their "first" as if I were getting a chance at a biggun'. I was there when my oldest son (14 at the time) harvested his first ever deer--a bowkill that scored 128 P&Y! I watched everything from 30 yards away and have never been happier with any deer that I killed!

I've been involved in some major way with 4 kids getting their first deer. Nothing better. I've also been around or with several adults who had had little or NO success until they got their first. I really have fun when someone else gets a deer. I've shot enough that it really is more fun to see someone else get one when I'm along. BUT....... NOTHING replaces that time alone in a tree as you release the arrow and hear TWACK !!!! That's still the reason I go hunting. Alone at 20 feet hearing the twack and watching the animal run and tumble. Nothing better.
