I must admit a few of thew "new" spots on our farms are old ones moved about 20-30 yards. It is amazingwhat a couple of good snows can teach you about deer movements and patterns.

I have right now 3 new farms of several hundred acres each to hunt. I hunted one of them last fall for 2 days and shot a nice 8 point. I'll be spending all summer scouting and glassing deer in new territory. There are others I can get but these are all out the front door, the back door and one across the river in the NY Southern zone. That one has land probably no one has walked on since I was a kid and hunted it. It just doesn't get hunted,... EXCEPT for some jack lighters on the fringes at night. The interior is untouched.

I have located one new spot, next to a field on a cedar ridge with white oaks an red oaks in the back ground. I do not think anyone has hunted in a while, could not locate any deer stands. There was some old scrapesan rubs near by,will hunttowards the middle of oct. hopefully.

No news spots for me, andI dont know how much hunting I'm gonna be able to do next year. Going away to college and all, its gonna be tought to get back home to hunt. On the plus side I should be able to shoot w/ fellow HNI member Rick James, as the shop he works at is 5 miles from the campus.

I have a new spot picked out. Hopefully it will put me closer to that darn 13pt running our property. He is a HOG.

The lady that has been cutting my hair for years tells me last time I sat in the chair.........."Oh yea, I forgot.......my parents said you could hunt their land if you want". [] A little more chatting revealed that the property borders a 265 acre farm and they have known the farmer for 40+ years so that should be a slam dunk. It pays to chat hunting

Another local property opened up as well but it is a weird spot where deer only sneak through and it gets hunted a TON.........still though, it is close to home and I will surely give it a few sits.

I also joined a local club that owns it's own 20 acres with about 100+ of private land (huntable) bordering it...........and about 10,000 acres of state land within a 20 minute radius.
