Cresting Wraps & Feathers
#1
To get through the winter I am thinking of doing my own arrows. I am looking for web sites for cresting wraps. So far I have only found eze-eye. Any ideas? Also looking for feathers other than Gateway.

I am considering using the cresting wraps myself. I think muzzy has some on their website, but I just have been over their to see. If you find any let me know.

Why not dip and crest your arrows with paint? I began doing this several years ago and find it very enjoyable and rewarding - plus you end up with cool looking arrows. It cost a little up front, but the stuff lasts forever. Also, for my money, Trueflight feathers are the only way to go! Bohning's websight has some good info on arrow dipping and cresting. Have fun!

I bought some Carbon Tech Deco-Wraps from Lancaster Archery last year and found that it is nothing more than strips cut from a sheet of ultrathin adhesive-backed vinyl (same stuff print shops use for making decals). I put them on my carbons and then fletched them with feathers using bohning adhesive. The feathers will not separate from the wrap and the wrap adheres very securely to the shaft. White feathers, white nock and white wraps leave no doubt as to where the arrow impacts the deer.

I did the same thing as wvboy (I work with him) I went to the local print shop which I gotten my boat name made up for and I bought a sheet of white vinyl about 8by15 cut into 1 1/4 strips attached to arrows and refletched they work great and I have about 18 strips for about 2 bucks total

If you are interested in capping and cresting your own arrows, we just had a great discussion about this in the traditional forum. Look for a thread started by me that ran well over two pages. (You might have to go to page two or three by now.) There was a lot of expert advice/instruction doled out over there!
And it may push you even further toward working with wraps!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
I just finished dipping and cresting a half-dozen, and while they may not be as uniformly perfect as if I had wrapped them, I do have the satisfaction of knowing they are hand-painted - by me!
