Any recommendatios on which one to get.

I shoot parallel limbs (bowtech).

I have seen a few portables that look good to me.........I don't care about cost but I don't want to just waste money on something that is super overkill.........I also don't want a huge press taking up space in my garage if I don't need it.

Most of all I don't want my bow exploding when I press it

I have a Bowmender from Walks With A Gimp. It is a great press, alas, I don't think he is making any at present.

I have access to a full size press at the shop but have a bowmaster $35-$40 for simple stuff. The bow master really works well for every bow I have used in on.

If you consider a Bowmaster a actual "press" then yes, I own a press.

Campo nailed it for me as to why I own one and its various uses... I own a bowmender from WWAG, too. I'll definitely have it and an extra string (and probably an extra bow, too...) along with me on my elk hunt this coming August; I can't imagine driving that far and NOT having one.

Here's the press in action:

Don't know how difficult it'll be to get your hands on one, but well worth it if you can.

No need for one. The Bowtech Guardian doesn't need a bowpress.

Atlas,
Found one like I have on e-bay. Great for any limb config. Very adjustable.

How do you change strings? How do you install a peep? If this is true, sounds pretty nifty..

It's not only true, it's a fact. All you do is back the limb bolts out (max of 5 turn and then alternate to each limb). There is a little "peep" window and you back the limb bolts out until only 3 threads are viewable on the limb bolt. At that point, the string/cable is slack and you can work with it.

I installed my peep and threaded in my rope from my rest into the cable this past weekend.
