Most Under Rated Bow
What is your opinion on the most under rated bows?
I can't say "Most" personally because I haven't tried them all... However - My Forge CW33 is a sweet bow. It is light weight, accurate, sturdy, and has little to no vibration (with a little work.) It also had an attractive price. I've shot this bow for 4 seasons now and Idon't think I'll need an upgrade for many years to come. |
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I have a Golden Eagle Mossy Oak Express bow and I absolutely love it. I have shot it for about 4 years now. It is fast enough, quiet, and short ata. That is all I can ask for and all I need in a bow. For under $400 for everything I am completely satisfied.

RE: Most Under Rated Bow
IMO the Browning bows are pretty under rated, atleast the last ones that I shot were. They are very well made bows but it seems that nobody ever talks about them. My buddy owned a Browning Tornado and it was a heck of a bow.
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I think the most underrated bow is the Reflex.Their justHoyt's with a different name slapped on it. They are fast and very acurate, not to mention quiet when equiped correctly. I shoot a Reflex Buckskin for my hunting bow and i love it.

RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I think that the Fred Bear lind of bows are underrated because of their price. I think they have priced their bows lower then the other companys in order to appeal to more of a croud but i think that maybe they dont get the credit the deserve. You dont have to spend a fortune to get a great bow...

RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I have to agree with Browning being underrated. I use one, a Micro Midas, and have taken 2 deer and didn't have to track either. However, I have about maxed it's weight and am looking at a new bow. Any suggestions?

RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I really think the new Dartons are VERY under rated. They really are smoking fast and the new 2.5 cam system compliments the binary design well. They finally have pivoting limb pockets too. I do like the Martin shoot through system the best right now and do think it is the best cam system on the market but the new 2.5 cam from Darton is pretty sweet and probably my 2nd favorite design on the market now.
When someone finds a way to make a binary style shoot through they will really have the best of both worlds. |

RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I would have to say I agree with the Darton not getting as much respected as they should. They started getting there bad rap when they went into Wally world years ago and the bow is a sweet shooting bow!! Walt

RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I'd have to say the AR line from PSE/Browning.
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
Ben Pearson
The Z32 I have is a really nice bow |
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I would have to go with Reflex even though they are getting some more publicity with this years brand new line they have been truly under rated in the past! I also shoot theBuckskin and love it! It has everything that i want in a hunting bow and is a no-nonsense workhorse!
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
Fred Bear! I have one and love it (Code) Great bow small price! What more do you need?
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I do have to agree with you popeandyoungchaser, they have gotten some more publicity this year i cant argue with that, but they still dont get as much as PSE or Matthews, can you agree with me on that?
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I'd have to go with Ross Bows on this one...i heard that they are picking up the pace and are stepping into the big boy territory!:D
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I'll throw Parker into the mix as well. I've owned three Parker bows (Stealth, UL35, Phoenix)and all were good bows. I never had not one problem with any of them andall three bows are still being used today. Another one would be Storm, i've never shot one or know anyone who owns one around here but they look like very nice bows, especially the Elite.

RE: Most Under Rated Bow
After shooting one at my bowhunter's education course.....I'd have to say.........
THE LONGBOW! |
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
i also think the most under rated bow is darton cause people are all caught up in there matthews and hoyts even though those ate two very good manufactures. Darton is a very good bow.

RE: Most Under Rated Bow
Diamond
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
The bear WHitetail ..... simply ......awesome![8D]
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
Martin and Alpine archery.
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
Why would you say diamond? I don't think they get a bad rap at all.

RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I would have to say Browning as well. I have the Rage One and think it's the best bow for the money. It doesn't seem to get any discussion however. Nobody seems to care about Browning even though PSE makes them and they're huge.

RE: Most Under Rated Bow
In this category ,I would have to say that there are several that I could mention. Darton, Bear , Reflex, Ross and a couple more.I think what under rates a bow co. is their advertising budget and the $ they can afford to spend on PRO shooters. Let's face it , if Ross spent the $ that Mathews or Hoyt does on advertising and shooting staff, Ross could be the next Mathews or Hoyt or Bowtech. The same goes for Darton or Bear andthe rest also.
They ALL make a great product and "TOP OF THE MIND AWARENESS" is key in marketing. It's all about marketing until you,(bow company A or B or C) start putting out junk. Then nothing will help. |
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I had a Browning Tornado and I had nothing but problems. Why do you say it was a heck of a bow? I could shoot any compound bow on the market right now and still plenty efficent to kill an animal and I would enjoy shooting the bow no matter how much noise/handshock/striff D.F.C. I just flat out enjoy shooting bows. I shoot a top end BowTech.. Why you may ask, because I could afford it and I liked it. If I didn't have the money to drop on it, I could still have as much fun shooting a PSE Nova. Too many people get caught up in the "you have to get a top end bow" theory and its just not true. Like I said, I shoot a "top end" bow but I would never say that you "have to have one". Every bow out there today, no matter if it cost $1,000 or $100 will only be as accurate as the person behind it. |
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
After seeing the poll on "THE MOST OVER RATED BOWS", I'd say the most under rated bow is Mathews. But I am bias.:D
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I've always thought my Pearson stacked up pretty well against other bows I've tried, including Mathews and Bowtech.
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
Another vote for Pearson. My Pearson Stealth is an incredible bow. I've shot Hoyts and Mathews but both the Pearson bow's I've owned have been great to me.
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I am bias because i have one but I have to say Reflex......shoot well and priced right...and by all means it is a Hoyt.
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I think the most underated bows are martins they shoot exellent!!! the most overated would be hoyts and mathew
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
Fred Bear.............just a very solid line of hunting bows.

The bear WHitetail ..... simply ......awesome![8D] Now im not joking here but i had a bear whitetail elite from wally world when i started hunting years ago and it is one of the most accurate bows i have ever shot!!! Call me CRAZY but i would love to have it back i gave it to a buddy to get him into bowhuntin'! As far as the most under rated i would have to say Martin,PSE (AR), Browning,Darton,Fred Bear, basically everything that isnot a mathews or hoyt! |
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
atlas, Do you shoot a Fred Bear. I have always been impressed with their bows and even considered buying. They seem to have some nice bows, especially for the price. I thought their grips were a little large for my liking but it seems they are making them with slimmer grips now.
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I said Diamond because I think they are under rated, not because I think they have gotten a bad rap.
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
Fred bear,I've never owned one myself, but for the money and the quality you get, they are a good deal.
|
RE: Most Under Rated Bow
In my opinion dartons are junk, ive know 5 friends who all had limbs explode on new darton bows.

RE: Most Under Rated Bow
I've got a Jennings Airmaster - and I've beat that thing to a pulp, and it still gets it done. Despite being about 9 years old, it still can crank out 300+ with the right arrow, and gets 290 with my hunting set.
The year I bought it, I accidentally dryfired it from full draw @ 76#. No harm, no foul. About six years ago, I dropped it from 25' up a cherry tree. Busted sights, crushed arrows, butno harm to the bow. Last year, I hammered the bottom cam off my Summit climber while shooting at a deer.It scraped up the cam, but it never lost center. I even pulled out one time and had it fall off the roof of my car (forgot to put it inside the car) - scraped and bounceddown the road at 10-20 mph. I don't baby any of my gear, and usually most things that I use, I'll find a way to destroy/break within 2-3 seasons, butthat bow is the exception to the rule. I've tried everything to ruin it, and it keeps on ticking. Jennings gets my vote. I hear a lot of great things about the Dartons too. |
