RE: Are your hunting buddies serious?

i have learned that i am one of the most serious hunters i know. some of you guys are serious..but i dont consider KNOWING you guys...you know what i mean...

but my friends and anyone else i meet are nowhere near serious compared to me. if im not hunting or scouting im fishing...and while im fishing im still scouting. if im turkey hunting im noting deer sign as well. if im groundhog hunting in 100 degree july i always keep a keen eye out of where the deer come into the fields at dark. if im driving down the road and see deer or property that looks good it gets noted. plus all the actual leg work i do.

asked my one buddy if he started shooting his bow yet. he said YA RIGHT!! maybe july ill dig it out of the shed and start shooting! i was like ohhh well i shot through november and just started shooting again(this was 2 or 3 weeks ago) hes like you need a life kid! i was like uhhh huh..this is a guy that gut shot both deer i know he killed with his bow. one wasnt found for WEEKS. the other he found the next day by chance.

i take it seriously. he doesnt even know what it is to tune a bow. glad to hear that he wont shoot passed 15yds though.

I have two hunting buddies, my father and my best friend. I would rarely hunt with either of them if they weren't as serious as I am.

None of my friends are what I would classify as casual hunters. Most of the guys in my hunting circle are dedicated, thats one step below classified. But my two closest hunting friends are very serious, just as I am. It is definitely a year round thing for us three

Me,Myself and I take all four seasons serious,I gave up trying to hunt with another person 10 yrs ago.Not worth the hastle.
My one son is eight now and the other one 5 so I kinda take them out with me if Iam in the blind,My oldest daughter and her fiancie(whatever) hunt North Dakota and my 21 yr old son is a computor freek--I mean he would rather talk tech then hunt.
I live in the country so every day is a scouting day,saw about 2 doz turkeys today and the deer are nocternal now.I see them out late night early morning.

So yes...Me,Myself and I do take it serious.

I am probably more serious than most of my buddies, My cousin wants to take it seriously, but hasent developed much patience yet, and like the beer a little too much to be very serious about it. He tries, and is learning more every time I take him with me, we have been trying to video, and I still have a hard time getting him to pass on bucks, he has only taken one deer with a bow, a doe, and its hard for him when he has a small 8 pointer in front of him, and so far he has held off.. I hope I can meet some hunting buddies on here sometime, and have a buddy as serious as myself, and hopefully have some great hunts.

RE: Are your hunting buddies serious?

Yes, and no. We take our hunting VERY seriously, we're out to shoot stuff. BUT, at the same time, none of the 3 of us do make it a 365 day a year job, but of the three I am by far more serious about it.

My biggest hinderance.......Time. Plain and simple. Between work, coaching the daughter's softball team, commitments at the shop, the wife in school.....Well, I can make excuses till I'm blue in the face, but I truely, simply don't have time.

Can't blame you there ... I'd rather scout by myself unless I'm bringing somebody new with me and showing them around.
