How many Bowhunters use a peep site???

Just curious as to what your bowhunting set up is as far as zero in is.? Do you use a peep or a kisser or just rough it and use the fingers?

Bobby

I use a peep site... though getting smacked in the head with the tubing once has caused me to start looking for a different option

I shoot a peep sight and a kisser button. I use both to insure a consistent anchor point. As far as zero goes i have a Impact Cosmic sight. Since it is a slider type sight i have it calibrated to 60 yards.

I use an open peep, without the cord, although every once in a while the string obstructs my vision slightly.

I use a 1/4 peep and a "No Peep" from Timberline Archery. This allows me the improved accuracy of a peep and the consistent anchor and torque shown by the No Peep.

my mathews bow has zebra twist string on it. I use a peep that has no rubber tubeing. it never has any obstruction to my view.

I hunt with a Jim Fletcher Tru Peep (1/4"). I dont have a kisser button as I seem to have learned my anchor spot over time and am pretty consistant. I have shot without any peep or kisser at all (never hunting this way) and found that I was still very accurated at my normal hunting shot distances (20-25 yards) but after 25 my groups weren't as good as with a peep. As far as zero'ing in, I have a 5 pin sight and my pins are set at 20,30,40,50,60 yards.

I'm with PT. No tube peep.....no kisser button. My peep (at full draw) aligns perfectly with the housing of my Viper sight.....and that's how I know I'm aligned. I never have to "center" the pin within the peep. I just align the 2 rings (peep and sight housing).

In my bowhunting infancy, still.......I had NO IDEA that this was an option when setting up a bow. It came about as happenstance....when I was setting up my Allegiance. It's aided in my accuracy SO MUCH. In 2 3D shoots, last year....I never placed or scored that well. In my two 3D shoots since switching to this.....I've placed 2nd and 1st, respectively.

Used a peep sight and kisser until a couple of years ago. I had problems at low light levels with the peep. I switched to an open peep sight, a little better, but it still wound up in the trash. It was just too much going on. Without it makes you really concentrate on your anchor point.

I used Specialty Archery's 45degree peep site, and I love it. I can screw in whatever apeture that I want, which leaves me infinite possibilites.
I like having a peep, keeps me more consistent, and also helps me to focus on that single hair on that 7x7 elk...:)

When I first started, I was a finger shooter with no peep. As I got more proficient I incorporated the peep sight and release and all that good stuff. I don't use a kisser, never have, but I think I would be lost without my peep now.

Me too. Got me 6 more fps. Had to try it just to see if there was a difference. Never again will I use that tube. Made my bow much quieter as well. You can use the D-Loop to pull it square everytime so the string will not obstruct your sight picture. Takes a little tweeking, but once you get it set you'll never go back!

For me, my peep makes me concentrate on my anchor because if I'm not anchored properly,I can't see through the peep.

I going to give a hindsight a try, but have to wait for enough snow to melt to really try it out. I have heard really good things about and a few responses from others that they did not see a big advantage over standard peep. I guess I will find out if it is for me.

Only peep, no tube or kisser...I may put a kisser next time I change my string...

Only peep here. No tube or kisser. But my peep keeps rotating and obstructing my veiw. I am going to have to do something about that this summer. It really bugs me.

RE: How many Bowhunters use a peep site???

I made some drastic changes in the past few years and last year I went to a peep and a release. My accracey (sp?) improved immensly (sp?) but I don't feel comfortable bowhunting with this set up being an ex finger shooter and I'm not comfortable with my anchor point being on my jaw. It just seems like too much to go wrong and to having to think about so much when it use to be so natural to me, I guess its just a matter of breaking old habits.
I'm curious about that G-5 you guys are talking about and I'll do a search on it. Thanks.

Bobby

I use a 2-string peep with a nock aligner. Comes back right everytime. Also I prefer the largest hole possible, better for me in low light conditions.

NiteHawk peep. No kisser. Used a kisser starting out but face masks pretty much nullified the kisser.

RE: How many Bowhunters use a peep site???

I use a G5 meta peep and wouldnt go hunting without one. For hunting I use a 1/4 peep to gather as much light as possible. But for my target bow i plan on using the 3/16 version. I have never had a problem with peep rotation but that has more to do with getting a good string anyway. I also use as small a kisser button as possible.
