Peter Fiduccia, This guy? That explains it all.

Here's one place he will feature on his show this year. It's in NY.

Hidden Valley has the answer to your trophy hunting dilemma. We offer all inclusive hunts in our three mile perimeter trophy managed area which is stocked with dozens of mature trophy whitetail bucks, fallow deer, elk, and rams. This is a very large area with diverse topography ranging from hardwood forests, thorn apple thickets, creeks, ravines, rolling hills, agricultural fields, goldenrod fields, swamps, and tag alder thickets. This is a very challenging hunt and as fair chase as it gets. The best part of this hunt is that you get this trophy hunter's paradise all to your self for the duration of your hunt.

Sounds really fair chase to me.

Yep, somehow I cant picture this guy hunting w/o a heated blind, w/ cable, fridge, and lots of food.[8D]

Heres a pic of the 378 lb. buck that was there. It was taken in SK. I shouldnt have standed in the way of half of the buck, but just for a comparison I'm 6'0. The pic doesnt do it justice.

...deer with large impressive racks are mature, smart deer. And that taking a mature buck, one that has survived and evaded many hunters is part of the goal! ...
At what point is it that a deer becomes "smart, mature, elusive" and has been"evading" the hunter for many years. Cause what I am trying to do is increase the bucks mass in my little slice of the hunting pie/area. I have two spots that I can hunt, with very little acreage on them. I do not have a vast source of public areas close to where I live and so I have access to only small numbers of resident deer. I have a little eight pointer that I past on for the second year in a row. I am pretty sure it is the same deer cause his brow timeshave a character in them that is the same every year. I have this deer patterned well. Maybe next year when he is 4-1/2 and he is a little bigger like maybe 120 or 130 I will take him. But now that he is 4 1/2 is he suddenly "mature" "elusive" "smart" and a true warrior for the challenge? I see him as the same retarded deer that I first patterned at 2 1/2 age andnow I have decided totake him from 20' up in a tree. What I am trying to do is since the deer in my area are limited and I do not have access to massive hunting area to seek out a bigger deer heard, I would like to try and increase the quality of the deer I do have access to. Does what I say make sense or is it still seen as using aadvantage that is unfair?

How many times did you have a chance to take him in the first year?
How many times did you have a chance to take him in the 2nd year?
How many times, last year?

I'm betting the number went down with each passing year (no pun intended). If it did (with all things equal....like how many times you hunted him, when you hunted him, etc.....)......then YES....he's becoming harder to kill. If it didn't go down.....I'd say you had an anomoly.

I hunt in a place with VERY little hunter pressure. I also keep trail cams out in the spring/summer to inventory the deer in my area. I see many deer on trail cam that I don't see when the season starts (with my eyes or anything else). The fact that I see less older deer makes it relatively easy for me to say they're harder to kill.

Once again, here they are, our 2004 Results! The above deer were raised on the same open range ranch, same herd of deer. Astonishing Results! The light colored antlers are from 2000. The dark antlers are from 2002 and now 2003. The Antler-X Feeding Program made a great difference. 40% more mass, 30% more points, and 20% more score!
The same could happen in your deer herd. Get more information for the time is Now!

btw, what food were these deer fed?

Back to the original question, fake bait is illegal in Ontario.
We can bait deer, but most (including me) don't. But I've heard on the news about guys getting charged for using plastic water bottles painted yellow (fake corn) for waterfowl. If we aren't allowed to bait during a season we can't use fake bait.
